carl1967
Hi all I thought I would start a workbench topic and put them all in one place 1st up on this is my repaint of some HSTs in to EastCoast livery. I think Hornby have got the colour wrong again, silver!! I think not. So after getting my hands on a real eastcoast hst at perth station, and giving a bit of a cab a polish to the amusement of the guard, I think its got lots of blue tint in the silver, so home a came and mixed up some colour. Let me know what you think. Carl
James
They look rather nice The colour looks quite good on the monitor at work. An EC HST goes by me everyday and the blue tinge to the silver is noticable but I have to admit I haven't looked at Hornby's model. What are you doing for transfers? forest2807
Lovely work as usual Carl. I'm not a fan of the contemporary railway scene and I don't tend to notice much about the infrastructure, rolling stock or locos any more, but I can see that you've done a fantastic job on an elderly Hornby product and produced the beginnings of a really great model. I look forward to seeing it complete with a full rake of MK3's!

James
Hornby's silver does look a little light; a bit of dirt would help! This is what we have by every evening, makes for a lovely sight!
AJ427
I think Hornby have got the colour wrong again, silver!! I think not. Carl Yep, saw one this morning in Leeds station on my way to work. Definitely not silver - I would say it's a pearlescent/metallic blue/silver - the kind of finish you'd normally find on a car. Your respray looks about right. Campaman
The colour of the original looks very similar to the bluish silver used by Peugeot, the wife has a 106 that is in that colour.
