rogerfraser
Hi I have a number of bus and lorry plans from the 1940s or early 50s titled either Lineside Buses or Lineside Lorries from Modelcraft of 77 Grosvenor Road London SW1. Does anyone know anything about this company and what their range of plans was or what else they produced ? Thanks Roger
BernardTPM
The lorries get a mention in this brief history of Micromodels. They are also listed in the back of "Making Miniature Road Vehicles (4MM scale)" by J.T. Hill. This was also published by Modelcraft and was still for sale in the 1970s; I'm pretty sure I bought my copy at the old Model Engineering show. There were 30 plans on the list: 22 commercial vehicles and 8 buses, but a later (1951!) catalogue shows 44 plans that included two trams, a taxi and a fire engine and a new range of 10 car plans. There were nine cut-out full-colour kits available based on a few of the plans.
rogerfraser
Hi Bernard I have a copy of Making Minature Road Vehicles (4MM Scale) by J T Hill which does not list the plans (it ends at p45 after listing Motor Index Marks) so I assume my copy is an early copy. If you still have your copy or a copy of the later catalogue would you be willing to copy the list and let me have a look at it? Roger
RMweb Gold DaveF Posted July 7, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 7, 2011 Marcle Models have a catalogue, at: http://www.marcle.co...aloguehome.html Scroll down to look at page 57, it lists some Micromodels they have in stock and also says they can provide a list of others which they can supply as inkjet pints on card. I have no connection with the firm, nor have I ordered from them, I simply have it bookmarked for futre reference. PLD
I think the A.E.C. Trolleybus is a type-setting error; I don't think AEC made trolleybuses! While AEC didn't make trollybuses entirely in-house, they had a hand in many including a large proportion of the London fleet, though not all were necessarily badged as AECs... In the 1930s, AEC and English Electric co-produced trolleybuses. AEC supplied the chassis, and EE the electric motors and control equipment. the vehicles could be badged as either manufacturer. Then in 1946, AEC and Leyland merged their trolleybus manufacturing operations to form British United Traction Ltd (BUT). Most vehicles were badged as BUTs, but some, particularly for export, were badged as AEC or Leyland. Paul
rogerfraser
Hi Bernard Thanks for listing them for me. I have plans EA 111 & 112 and they are titled 6-Wheel and 4-Wheel Double Deck Trolley Bus A.E.C Weymann. The 6-Wheel bus is drawn as a London Transport bus. The 4-wheel plan is damaged and the side elevation with the company name on is missing apart from the first letter which is B. Thanks again Roger
BernardTPM
Interesting, but I still doubt the cut out kit is AEC as all the others directly relate to the drawings in the range. Can't be 100% sure though, without seeing the kit (It's not on the Marcle site). (Edited after seeing above post) AEC Weymann! Well, that clears that up! AEC chassis , Weymann body. 'CHARD
Maybe worthy of a sticky or placing somewhere else in the linky library, I just hit upon this: http://www.the-blueprints.com/blueprints/cars/ford/page/3/ Front, rear and side elevations of the type seen in brochures of yore. I was searching for the Thames 307E van when I came upon this wealth of resource. It's not just limited to Ford either. Enjoy!
