Church Lane Sidings

Having sold both Nobbs End and Duke Street layouts to diversify with 0 gauge a problem reared it's ugly head! I have got two exhibition bookings at Wirksworth and Burton on Trent in October and November respectively and no 00 gauge layout to exhibit. I haven't got the time to construct a layout for these shows and I didn't particularly want to cancel.

Whilst at Ruddington at the weekend a solution to the problem was found.

Ashley Toon and his father, Trevor, were exhibiting a layout for the first time and it transpired that it was for sale. Enquiries were made on the Sunday, a price agreed and now I am the very proud owner of CHURCH LANE SIDINGS.

The railway is a micro layout, small and simple, with a scenic board of 4 feet x 16 inches. The fiddle yard board is the same size. Both boards incorporate folding legs. The baseboards are 4mm MDF on a planed timber frame.

I've taken a few photo's of Church Lane Sidings (on a dodgy camera so excuse the quality!)post-8168-0-58565100-1313432065_thumb.jpgpost-8168-0-99884500-1313432176_thumb.jpgpost-8168-0-36041700-1313432235_thumb.jpgpost-8168-0-99400400-1313432275_thumb.jpgpost-8168-0-03574700-1313432330_thumb.jpgpost-8168-0-48284100-1313432359_thumb.jpgpost-8168-0-74173500-1313432394_thumb.jpgpost-8168-0-06363200-1313432425_thumb.jpgpost-8168-0-67497700-1313432463_thumb.jpgpost-8168-0-47719200-1313432498_thumb.jpgpost-8168-0-38319900-1313432534_thumb.jpg

You lucky man, I saw it and it was really good and looked a joy to operate. Trevor's other buildings were really good too and I wish I had bought a couple. Andy

Hi Andy

Totally agree with you on Trevor's creativity. I have been fortunate enough to see at first hand the quality of his work. I've been round to his house today, obviously, to collect Church Lane Sidings and got to see his other work. Really magnificent! I also bought one of his buildings on Saturday at Ruddington (couldn't resist it) and it oozes quality.

The thing is, I've owned the layout now for approx 6 hours and every time I look at it I find another gem of a detail!

Hi Mason.

At the moment it's got a DC controller on it. So I'll be connecting my Prodigy to it. I wouldn't dream of altering anything on this layout. I just hope I can do it justice when I operate it! I'll have to have a word with Redgate about Mansfield so there maybe a chance.

Hi Alan, will you be putting SOUND on it? I also notice you have the best DCC controller money can buy (in my humble opinion) Andy.

Hi Andy

Church Lane Sidings will have Cl 24, 25 ,37 and probably Cl 20 with sound. Had my Prodigy for 4 years and has performed faultlessly.

Thanks Neil.

Yes, the Blue Diesels have settled in their new home. The 37 in the pics will be the biggest loco on Church Lane Sidings. Well spotted re the guy in the window. It's one of those things you wouldn't see at first glance.

Cheers

Hi Andy.

Most of my sound loco's are Bachmann (20,24,25,37 etc) I've got a Hornby sound 31. Next job is to sound chip 08419.

Church Lane Sidings was built as a Scottish layout (I'm thinking of moving it a tad south). The next set of pics show the layout as intended.

A Clayton arrives with a short train of vans.

Scottish, Derbyshire or North Cornwall the 25's and 37's will look and SOUND a treat. Looking forward to seeing more of the cameo pic's. Andy.

That Clayton looks right at home on there Alan, first thing i did with mine was grime it up.

I think you could pretty much base it anywhere with how the scenery is.

sound 37 ...tasty

Thanks guy's.

I've got the loco roster sorted. 03066, 08419, 20129, 24035, 25095, 25245, 37254. As regards cameo's I might do a BR Green and Steam. I have got a special planned also so watch this space!

Dates for the diary:

Wirksworth 15th / 16th October 2011

Burton on Trent (Pirelli Stadium) 6th November 2011
