Mike, this gets better! But I'm a bit confused as to which scale you're working in as I've just been looking at the pictures of your split-box 40 in 7mm scale.

Excellent work, Michael. Maybe you should get the group to scrap Lime Street and start on Exchange instead..

Matt Farrell, the man behind these kits is already working on a model of Exchange but to P4 standards so that should be something to see in due course.

Just seen this thread - more memories brought back. I recall seeing Class 02s in the Bank Hall area too. As for the 502s themselves - 3 or 6 car formations on the Southports, 3 or 5 car on the Ormskirks. This was due to platform lengths, I believe? (I didn't do the Ormskirk line - I lived by Blundellsands & Crosby station on the Southport line). I moved away just after the introduction of the 507/508 units - they were/are soul-less compared to the 502s, in my opinion.

Does anyone know if the 502 models are still being produced? It looks like E Traction have gone, but I would imagine the moulds are still out there somewhere.

Hi There,

There are these 3d prints for the 502 that are available in various scales:

Thats fantastic, thanks!

I may have to put these plans on hold though as I'm currently working on my 507. The above printed 502 sections are a touch on the pricey side at being well over £ 200 for a 3 x car set. By the time I factor in motor/s, bogies, etc. I would be looking at around £ 300. As the family would probably find a plot for me under the patio if paid that sort of money out after buying the 507 kit, I may need to wait until next year!

Better start saving :D

had this on display at the Liverpool model railway show this weekend and it attracted a lot of interest from ex drivers and passengers.

Known as Poolies Pullmans by the men at Bank Hall shed, as Hall road superintendent Ken Poole ran the depot with a rod of iron.

lots of people remembering the distinctive electrical smell, comfy seats and fearcley shutting doors.
