ROY@34F
Has anyone ever thought of a scale size radius link, possibly etched, for the current Hornby A3&A4 valve gear. I feel the present one is about the only thing not quite right with otherwise excellent models. What would the costs be for a 2 or three layer etching be for this?,similar to the comet one in their valve gears.I personally could use 5 sets at the moment. If you are into kit or scratch building, its not a big job to fit. Hope I'm not the only one barmy enough to think of this nit picking idea!!
Horsetan
Has anyone ever thought of a scale size radius link, possibly etched, for the current Hornby A3&A4 valve gear. I feel the present one is about the only thing not quite right with otherwise excellent models..... Expansion link & dieblock are also a bit on the long side on the Hornby models - an error repeated on the pre-production sample of the imminent B17. The expansion links were triple-layered, with the radius rod passing either side of the centre layer.
JeffP
Perhaps you could approach someone like Jim Smith-Wright to get some etched for you? Then sell on any spares to recoup some cost? Or ask Peter Harvey?
RMweb Premium Michael Edge Posted November 7, 2011 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 7, 2011 I have already done this as part of an etch to convert Hornby A3 and A4 to EM gauge, it wouldn't be too difficult to put a few link etches on a test etch for you.
