Marcyg
What's the largest points available in OO/HO gauge that will work with code 100 track? The layout I'm planning, even the largest Peco points just don't cut it and the thought of building them frightens me!
RMweb Gold Budgie Posted February 11, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 11, 2012 Shinohara do a No.8 turnout in code 100. See http://www.scalelink...iguillages.html If you want an even longer one, they do a No.10 in Code 83. See http://www.scalelink..._DCC_ready.html Note that Shinohara code 83 doesn't join easily to Peco code 83 because their rail width at the base is different. It will join if you open the Peco joiners slightly (I twisted a screwdriver in the gap at one end of the joiner to widen it). All their stuff is live frog, which shouldn't cause any problems. You will need some sort of points-changing mechanism that locks them in place, though, as they do not have an "over-centre spring". Model Railroader suggests joining code 83 to code 100 by soldering the code 83 rail to the top of code 100's railjoiners.
'CHARD
"Convertor Track Code 100 to Code 83(Reference #SDG897)" is there if you scroll down far enough. Reminds me of the old Super 4 - System 6 adaptor track that Triang did circa 1970!
Gordon A
Building your own points may appear frightening, but the freedom it gives you designing your trackplan is well worth the effort. Gordon A Bristol
RMweb Gold Budgie Posted February 11, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 11, 2012 "Convertor Track Code 100 to Code 83(Reference #SDG897)" I know about these, I've bought enough of them! Soldering on top of rail joiners is cheaper, though!
