Thanks for the pic Lee love the freightliner livery.

We sometimes have thunderbirds on sleeper to PADD. Only when FGW lease out all their 57's they then realise, whoops, whats going to haul tomorrow's sleeper?

I have 31602 just waiting for GF to release the network rail mk1's.

saw the 31 and i take it that the 86 is 86501 (billy no mates)

Hey did you? Class 31 DCR livery? Any idea what it was up to?

The 86 is actually 614...another lone tredder mind. We do normally see them in pairs, and the 90's solo.

Plenty more photos Jack if they are any help to you. The new FL livery isn't too rare these days either :)

The Tesco train is a regular southbound at 12pm. Often has a a few tanktainers strapped on the back for a bit of variety.

The NR coaches will be a cool edition though sadly no home on my layout for the time being :(

I like the new FL livery too, but I don't think it suits the ol' 86 lol. Just missed pics of the re-livered 90 the other day (well I got em but bad location) That does suit the livery!

NP on the pics. I put a few more in my thread (save hijacking yours) and I do post em when I get a day by the rails lol.

As for the DRS/Malcom intermodal, I've seen it but never caught it on camera yet. lol :D

Good luck for a productive day on Wednesday then :)

90 045

90045.jpg

It always appears as I'm walking down below the tracks, and never when I'm at one of the two vantage points. It's also always manages to sneek up on me...must be a well oiled loco :P One of these day's I'll catch more than just a fleeting shot.

A lot of people modelling OHLE in N gauge negate the actual wires. Mainly for the ability to access the lines more freely and the complexity to model it to 2mm scale.

I'm in two minds about modelling the wires. I think they need to be there for the full effect, But I would never model them until the layout is completly finished. They truely would be the last job to do!

Enjoy your day off :D

Hi, im dreading it, but i totally agree with the 'last thing to do' idea, the OHLE i got by Dapol looks very convincing even comes weathered and screw/wing nut's to attatch to the layout, which i'm really impressed by!

post-13209-0-82987800-1329323148.jpg

but like you said Lee i will put the masts up, but do the wiring part when im 100% sure thats where i want them and when im happy with it.

Hare's Run would be really good in Retro/electro style. ( love the layout by the way! )

Aghh...just finished work and now im off this evening, thurs and Fri.

experimented with digital camera ( my photography skills are shocking )

but the OHLE masts are up! they look slightly wonky in the pictures, but they don't look bad in the flesh!

I think i backscene will lift the whole image of the layout, countryside and hills.

Will look even better with some electro's stroming past! Had a look at the Dapol 86's in model shop today they're quite something, really detailed and in some great liveries too, the motored version was in the new FL powerhaul livery looked ace.

Hey.

If you keep your eyes on the Dapol section of the forum, they are planning to produce the wires to go with the masts as well as a range of different uk outline masts. I'm deffinate that's the case for the 00 ones at least, but pretty sure it was for the N gauge too.....(hoping) There is a thread in there regarding the OHLE, though it's a bit turbulent on there as delays and a lack of release dates has upset people.

Something to bare in mind though, as I'm sure the wires will be quite rigid, and there may be implications for mast spacings....depends if you choose to wait for the release.

Thanks for the comments on my layout btw :)

Regards

Lee

hmm thats good to know that Dapol will ( hopefully ) release the wires, i was just looking at the layout and, depending how many times i snap them, think i will just use black cotton, see how that goes for now. but not fussed about the wires just yet :)

i started a help thread in the "ELECTRIFICATION" section and had lots of posotive feedback about pantograph's not catching from fiddle yards sections to scenic sections, and how to sort of blend in the wires softley to prevent damage on the loco's pantos. ( thanks everyone who replied in that thread, Cromponnut even drew me a diogram, ;) .... )

Was looking at your tree's Lee they are quite something! ;)

Think making the wiring is going to be quite complex! will have to sit down and really take my time and use all my patience to do them! daughnting task, but it will get done once all the track detail is finished! still more spraying tomorrow...everyone cross their fingers for clear skies tomorrow!

on the prowl for Fl dummy 86 and 66's....off to the model shop in the morning i think then!

No updates as such.

A few shots with the new camera....

Desperately need a backscene the plain wood looks horrific. Also some electric loco's would go down a treat.

priority is the backscene. i will have a play around on the laptop....maybe fields and farm land.

Right...progress at last.

A couple of photographs i have taken of a local dis-used quarray in the sea mist is going to be the backscene for CG, i think the mist will set atmosphere and give a grundgy, dull feel to the layout.

I've edited them on my laptop so they are scaled down to size and darkened as they are a touch too bright. All i need to do is print them on card and chop down edges.

Then i can apply onto the backingboard.

Keep me busy tomorrow then....

Hi,

thanks for the posotive feedback. i have switched flash off the camera and stuck the layout in natural light, the best picture i produced has to be this one...before the batteries died of course...

post-13209-0-48098700-1332174589.jpg

Right, tonight i must get cracking...need to stick the backscene on, then think of a space-saving way of making a fiddle yard, most likely to be roundy roundy to have conituous running of the stock.

Jack.

Finished the design of the fiddle yard, roundy roundy it is... The backscene is almost fitted aswel I'll post pics up when it's complete,

I'm also thinking of turning the 4 Mk3's into HST set, de-buffered. Those Dapol HST box sets are so expensive, think i will keep an eye put on eBay.

The double track mainline on the layout will only be operational on the foreground line as only have a single controller so train on the back-line will be stationary, possible engineers train or postie waiting to be shunted. Then the HST and other passenger stock can scream past. Will treat myself to some Dapol dummy loco's aswel especially the FL 86's.

Right, colleygate has officially been condemned!! After-all it was just a prototype...the bushes and shrub land are still intact, but the track/OHLE/cars and accessories have gone into a box.

I'm planning a new micro-layout using the baseboard, will keep you updated, all in good time.

I have 2 days off from work now, finally!

Jack.
