EBay madness

There are several examples of kits which are still available being advertised at prices way above manufacturer's prices. I think the sellers must look at prices of the high price vendors and add the date.

I spotted a book in the window of a local charity shop, went inside and asked the price. When I said that it was too expensive and I could buy it cheaper new from a specialist fairly local dealer. The manager informed me that it was on offer for more on Ebay, and didn't like it when I remarked that it was on Ebay as it was priced too high and wasn't selling. If it was priced correctly, it would have been sold, and no longer on Ebay.

He obviously doesn't expect the loco to sell in a hurry -

"I will keep working on this model and if I finish it before its sold the price will rise to reflect materials used."

Well, it was for charity.

I had a similar experience with a White Swan book in an Oxfam book shop. The manager dropped the price so much that I then felt guilty and put half the difference in the charity box on the counter.

Dapolflation.

£32.99 for an undistinguished Dapol special edition...

I blame Rails of Sheffield - every Dapol wagon is worth its weight in gold according to them.

  • RMweb Gold

What has this poor little 835 done to deserve this?  (and I would have thought the wagon with her should be Italian too?)

Perhaps putting the kit together properly might have been a good starting point!

This one is more credible, as the weathering is not overdone, but surely the roof and white paint around the cab windows etc. should show more signs of use?

Or

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/R2892-Hornby-LSWR-4-4-0-T9-VERY-COLLECTABLE-LIMITED-EDITION-LOCOMOTIVE-/121346029711?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item1c40c9788f

HERE WE HAVE A VERY RARE AND COLLECTABLE LIMITED EDITION Hornby LSWR 4-4-0 CLASS T9 'GREYHOUND' IN STUNNING GREEN LIVERY.

T9's WERE NICKNAMED 'GREYHOUNDS' BECAUSE OF THEIR TURN OF SPEED. THEY WERE USED TO PULL LIGHT EXPRESSES FROM PLYMOUTH TO WATERLOO

Leading to a massive pile of T9s at Waterloo and none anywhere else?

Oh, it's rare and currently at £147.90.

I ask in all innocence - is that a reasonable price?
