eastwestdivide
What's this fine powdery-looking stuff? In a train of big bogie box wagons coming from the Worksop/Maltby direction at Loversall Carr just S of Doncaster today. [Edit - twice - don't know if it turned left towards all the yards S of Doncaster on the ECML - the signal was set straight on, with neither left nor right feather illuminated. Don't know the layout there well enough to work out what that means] Would it be flyash? I had the idea that had to be covered over. It's a very distinctive pattern of loading too - tricky to recreate in model form? Thanks in advance...

chriswild
flyash does get moved in MBA's, or it did, a few years ago it ran from west burton to northwich, after loading it's sprayed with water, which when dry creates a "crust" to minimise the inevitable blow-off. im pretty sure gypsum is moved in MBA's too though, either gypsum or flyash runs to selby for unloading. chris

eastwestdivide
Thanks for the replies, people. Looks like the flyash then. The flyash at Northwich came from Drax. with a fair bit flying off at speed by the look of it! What number was the 66 on the working ewd ? Have to get back to you on that. Photos on the other computer. The ballast/engineer's wagons on the other line had just had a 60 running round. Watch this space. Edit: 66150, although you can't read it off the small version attached. I like the wonky cabinet on the right. Also don't know what the 60 was, other than tatty red/gold EWS livery, as I only saw it in the distance while walking across the fields. Here's a crop
