RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted February 26, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 26, 2012 Interesting chopper action in this! And the bloke running along the top of tank cars must be VERY well paid for that stunt.
RJS1977
Which film is it going to be in? Oddly, none of the helicopter cameras seemed to be filming the stuntman!
trisonic
Yes, it is very easy to miss him. I believe that the movie has been out for some time, though I have not seen it. It's called "Unstoppable" starring Denzil Washington. Best, Pete.
Catkins
Oddly, none of the helicopter cameras seemed to be filming the stuntman! The Movie is called "Unstoppable" I've got it on DVD The reason why none of the helicopters is filming the stuntman in that clip is because the plot calls for two helicopters to be 'chasing' the train - a Law Enforcement helicopter, and a TV news crew helicopter - the third helicopter that you can see in the clip will be the film-makers camera helicopter. Glorious NSE
Strangely it looks faster in the finished version...
trisonic
Ha! Are you saying camera's actually lie? There's a crew on the last tank car. It's a good ballet by the chopper pilots, though, but. Best, Pete.
Alcanman
Hi, I also got the DVD of this movie, it's directed by Tony Scott and the action scenes are amazing. It's also currently showing on SKY Movies. regards, Mal
RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted February 26, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 26, 2012 In the real world, choppers are the bane of a railfan's life. They make so much noise you can't appreciate the sound of the train, be it steam or diesel.
Andy Y
Strangely it looks faster in the finished version... And with less wheels on the track.
bennyboy
And the bloke running along the top of tank cars must be VERY well paid for that stunt. Or perhaps he's just a railfan who is really desperate to get the number of the loco.

mah644
Excellent film with a very good cast. Denzel Washington has not made many "throw away" films, and this is definitety not one of them. The only totally implausible part of the film is when the train is rounding a sharp raised curve and many wheels lift off the rails, only to settle back down again. A recently deceased friend of mine was a longtime Maintenance Superintendant on the Norfolk Southern. His comments about the reality of that shot can not be repeated here... Best Wishes--Carl
