Chrislock
Apologies if this has been covered, but a quick trawl didn't reveal anything apart from some demos. What sound programmed decoders are available and best for the Bachmann Robinson 04, and where can I buy one? I have heard the Howes do a good one, but can't find how to purchase one. Many thanks
Lady_Ava_Hay
Start here http://www.howesmodels.co.uk/Railways/viewProducts.php?CatID=21 and look for SS107A(21) The power of Google!
Chrislock
Hmm. That didn't come up when I tried the obvious. Ah well. Thanks for that. I'd still like advice on other options if there are any, being a DCC sound novice!
Lady_Ava_Hay
Then putting Robinson O4 sound into the search box ( top right, just under the profile drop downs ) brought up this http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/22926-Bachmann-robinson-o4-dcc-problem/ Then again I wonder how you missed the DCC Sound sub forum under Special Interests. Chrislock
Well I did but came up with a list of reviews and descriptions of the models. As I said, I was looking for a quick and helpful reply, without having to trawl through pages of connected items. Your first link was adequate, thankyou, and I am now sorted. Many thanks
Ed-farms
I am not aware of any other sound chips for the Bachmann O4, but the Howes one is fantastic - I have one and I love it.There is an 8 second recording of a loose coupled freight clanking buffers which sounds great when you play that and wheel screech as she slows round a corner into your freight yard. AMJ
My Robinson O4 has an Olivia's which I think is good. As ever with sound it's a personal choice.
Chrislock
Thanks for the replies. I now have a Howes programmed decoder in my 04, and though fitting it wasn't quite plain sailing, its done and working. Except that I seem to be getting quite a significant motor hum when the wheels begin to turn. Is this normal or likely to be a fault with my 04, decoder or can CVs be tweaked to reduce this? Can anyone advise?
kevpeo
Yep, that hum is normal with Bachmann motors and the ESU chip. You just get used to it! kev.
Chrislock
Ok maybe I need to make the sound louder! Any ideas?
