Sound for the 04

Apologies if this has been covered, but a quick trawl didn't reveal anything apart from some demos.

What sound programmed decoders are available and best for the Bachmann Robinson 04, and where can I buy one?

I have heard the Howes do a good one, but can't find how to purchase one.

Many thanks

Well I did but came up with a list of reviews and descriptions of the models.

As I said, I was looking for a quick and helpful reply, without having to trawl through pages of connected items.

Your first link was adequate, thankyou, and I am now sorted.

Many thanks

I am not aware of any other sound chips for the Bachmann O4, but the Howes one is fantastic - I have one and I love it.There is an 8 second recording of a loose coupled freight clanking buffers which sounds great when you play that and wheel screech as she slows round a corner into your freight yard.

Thanks for the replies.

I now have a Howes programmed decoder in my 04, and though fitting it wasn't quite plain sailing, its done and working.

Except that I seem to be getting quite a significant motor hum when the wheels begin to turn.

Is this normal or likely to be a fault with my 04, decoder or can CVs be tweaked to reduce this?

Can anyone advise?
