Judge Dread
If every modeller in a certain district or member of a local club modelled their own area then every exhibition put on by that club would have a number of layouts perhaps of different scales but all of the same subject. How boring would that be. I have always been in favour of modelling either as near a representation of an actual site as accurately as possible or a model based on a site with the "what if" factor applied. A number of years ago members of one of my local clubs modelled "Tideswell" in Derbyshire. Two ladies of a certain age complimented the operators for allowing them to relive fond memories of catching a train from that station modelled there whereas a chap who said he had delivered milk in that area for many years and he could not ever remember a station in Tideswell. He was right and the ladies were mistaken but the station and railway did look as if they could have existed and surrounding scenery was judged to be definitely Derbyshire.
