OO tank wagon kits

I was looking for a kit to build a rake of tank fuel oil/ petrol etc. wagons (steam era). Having looked at all the usual susoects, Parkside, Cambrian etc. I have drawn a blank. Does anyone know of a OO tank wagon kit on the market

Two 14t PO tank wagon kits - steel u/f and wooden u/f - are available, in OO, from David Geen Model Railway kits. I know that having held his prices for the last two years or so he has just had to put them up to cover the ever increasing cost of whitemetal etc etc. An e-mail t o sales@davidgeen.co.uk will get the latest prices.

I doubt the very specialist gas tank wagon is what is wanted - they are not for fuel oil. The APOC double tanks were as rare as hens teeth, perhaps only ever one and certainly no more than 5 (the official photo which is frequently published is the same wagon as http://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/apoctwin )

 

It is incredible that 4mm appear to have no decent kits for pre vacuum braked tank wagons. The Bachmann RTRs appear superior to anything available.

Personally, I'd love to see kits for examples of the MoS and early postwar types.

I have bought one of the Bachmann 3 packs of 14T wagons, and they are superb, it is a shame that a kit of this type does not appear to be made. Just for the satisfaction of sitting down and enjoying a kit build.

It would be nice to have something with a different diameter of tank for a change. If you look at photos of pre-1960s tank trains they are of all sorts of diameters.

One of Geoff Kent's wagon books covers scratchbuilding various tank wagons, probably for the reasons expressed in this thread. Lots of useful photos in there as always with GK.

Was the David Geen kit originally available from Cambrian? I built/modified a couple of tank wagon kits over twenty years ago which look identical to the Geen kit and I seem to recall that they were from Cambrian.

No. They are all his own work! Cambrian were, I think, plastic, whereas David's are whitemetal with a brass tube for the tank.
