The layouts will be supported by the Colonel Stephens Society

...and our guest layout  is the excellent 2mm Highbury Colliery by supported by the 2mm Society

Other layouts representing the best of 4mm modelling include:

Aldbury Town by Mike Gosling

Culm by Dai Davies

Foundry Lane by Mark Forrest

Hartburn by Ian Manderson

Hope under Dinmore by the South Hants Model Railway club

Iron Street Mills by Andrew Wright

Mansfield Market Place by Tony Gee and Ken Hill

St Aidan’s by Tim Easter

Tiverton by Ted Farmer, Chris Lamacraft, Paul Illiff, Ian Harrison

Just about to break the piggy bank-do you still want stewards or help on the 2nd hand stall Graeme?

Hi Martin

Yep need help on the 2nd hand stall - if you are offering that would be fantastic - of course means you also get first pickings on what comes thro so you may break the piggy bank several times over.  But I'll buy you a pint and chuck in a free lunch!!!!  assuming you will come down on the friday night?

Hey - looking forward to seeing the layout at expoEM next year.  Planning a bit of a special one for 2015 that will be right up your street but its a big secret at the moment!!!!

Looking forward to this  - missionary work for the 2mm Scale Association!

We will be running Highbury c.1920 for one of the days, hopefully using North Somerset Light Railway stock to reflect the Colonel Stephens theme and c.1970 with grubby diseasels on the other. As usual with Highbury, we won't be getting too bogged down with prototypical accuracy, particularly as we are there to showcase the scale.

I used to go to Expo -EM regularly with a couple of local 4mm modelling friends but haven't been for a few years now. If its as good as it used to be it should be a cracking weekend. We had Maidstone Road and Rolvendon at Camrail a couple of years ago and I am a big fan of both so looking forward to seeing them both again

Worth a mention on here is the Demo being presented for the first time by Mick Moore and Vincent Worthington. Having had a bit of an insight into their approach to modelling, I think that it will be a real hit and will certainly raise a few eyebrows. Basically (look away all those who think that lathes and milling machines are the work of the devil!) it is all about the use of machine tools in model railways. Not only for the direct manufacture of components but also for making jigs to aid construction jobs. Some of the gadgets and gizmos are real works of engineering art, as well as being extremely effective.

Some of the items on display are jigs and aids that were made without machine tools too, just in case anybody feels left out.

As for our contribution this year, work proceeds apace on Mansfield but it will still be very much work in progress. As this is likely to be the last exhibition layout Ken and I build (for the foreseeable future anyway..... never say never and all that!) we are not rushing to finish it as we usually do. Instead, we are taking our time, for once, and trying to do a "proper job" rather than just seeing what we can get away with in a hurry. We have basically run out of room for more layouts and have decided to spend the next part of our modelling career finishing half done layouts and other projects.

Mansfield Market Place is fully operational and some of the scenic work is no longer in the "mock up" form we had at EXPO EM North last year but there is still much to do, especially by way of authentic stock. Much will be on loan from other layouts this time out.

Hi Graeme,

should exhibitors have had their pack yet?

I understand that this will be David Geen's last time at ExpoEM and also that he is no longer going to Scaleforum  (oops should not mention the two together !!!), so this will be the last time for those of you "down south" to buy from him in person.

Hi Graeme,

should exhibitors have had their pack yet?

Jerry

Busy couple of weeks at work but yes you should have got the final instructions by now.

Programme being finalised now and will post link once it is available on www.emgs.org

I will also post a map to the overflow car park.  The leisure centre car park always seem just big enough but I am always hopeful of getting a few more bodies thro the door.. so if you've never been then come along - we have some of the top modellers in the country in attendance and (virtually) no mums dads and kids cos its only advertised in the model press.

two weeks time and it will all be over for another year....

No, still having trouble opening the pdf. Will not open in Adobe Reader and doesn't seem to download correctly.

"A network error occurred whilst accessing this document on the Internet. Would you like to close the document or reload it?"

Is it stuck in some secure area?

I'll be there, programme or no programme.
