RMweb Premium polybear Posted March 31, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 31, 2013 Hi, Has anyone any tips regarding removing a (big) blob of superglue from a dark-coloured Formica (ish) worktop please I understand that nail varnish remover that contains acetone works as a superglue remover; has anyone tried it on formica please? I don't want the cure to be worse than the illness (i.e. "it looks worse now than it did before....."). Many thanks. polybear
micklner
Neat Acetone will remove . I suggest you test on non obvious area first. I would try and remove as much as possible of the glue using a Swan Morton no 10 curved blade first.
Castle
Hi All, The other thing to do is to look at some superglue debonder - same proviso as Mick suggests above about tests. It's available either on line or from model shops (if you are lucky enough to have one near you!). It tends to softens cyanoacrylate quite carefully and might be a bit less aggressive than just neat acetone. Either suggestion will work though. All the best, Castle
RMweb Premium polybear Posted April 14, 2013 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted April 14, 2013 Many thanks Guys. The OH hasn't mentioned it again yet , so I haven't tried either of the suggestions. That way if anything goes wrong I can't get blamed, which seems like a safe course of action
RMweb Gold Enterprisingwestern Posted April 14, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 14, 2013 One inch wood chisel used carefully will do the trick. Mike.
