georgeT
Hi, Thought l would start a new thread, as l have bit's no longer needed on 'Abbot's Bridge' so rather than waste them l thought l would make another layout, but this time it is just to help me try out thing's first before to see how they work out and also a photographic back drop for my model's' The shed will be re-vamped as it's the one from my original 'Abbot's Mead', trying out the different card on the roof for starter's, plus there is no power, fiddle yard, point's and at a size of just 48" x 11" in 7mm O gauge.. georgeT
Hello Ian, Duncan & Bodgit, Well l have put the undersized water tower to 'CS' as it seems to fit a one track shed better than the larger '72G' looks more at home on 'CS'.. With the shed l have removed the large stone finish with a smaller brick, and re-fitted the window's, will attach the side to the shed and re-cover the rest of the shed with new DAS then re-scribe the brick work, not too much work as the shed will only be veiwed from one side so the other side will be painted black.. georgeT
Managed to re-plaster the shed to scribe the new brickwork to...
emt_911
Looking good George. The water tower looks more at home next to the single road shed. Duncan

georgeT
Hello Duncan, Yes you are right the tower does look more at home on 'CS' George
Andrew P
Hi Mate looking good but leave room for Locos to stand out in the open. Remember More is Less, I should know, hhahaaaa Bodgit
georgeT
Morning Lad's, 'CS' will be just a small layout to try out various method's of building, eg Roof, building's, ballasting, scenery etc etc, rather than making a ball's up on 'AB 72G' .... George..
georgeT
Hi, Its quite good having two projects on the go, as when you get bored with one then you can spend time on the other, this afternoon l made the inside wall at 'CS' then just applied a wash of dirty thinners to the finished brick, nice that a few bricks are missing as l fell it adds to the run down effect.. George..
georgeT
Hi, Have finished one end with the smaller brick...
Andrew P
That brickwork look really good mate, well done. Will you detail the inside? Bodgit
RMweb Gold Donw Posted May 13, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 13, 2013 Your making such a nice job of this with the bits that didn't work on 72G. I think this will have a lovely character of its own. Don
georgeT
Morning Don, (Andy) (ess1uk), (Duncan) & (Ian) Welcome to 'Catherine Street' and thank you all for your comment's, l am enjoying building another layout, and its good to use the bit's that are too small for 72G, the idea was to build a photographic background for my loco's etc, and test out different method's of construction, what l didn't realise was how much l would enjoy the new project, great fun.... George..
georgeT
Well using the same method as l did with the water tower, and l have painted the shed on 'CS' still have to do the tiles, down pipes etc etc, will use the same method on 72G later, l think the doors are on the wrong way round so l will put them right.. stephenashton
George - That shed looks great. I can't believe how quickly you work ... and how patient you are: I can't even begin to contemplate scribing individual bricks on even a small hut let alone the large train shed you're working on. Quick question: are you making sure that your bricks are to scale (ie four courses to the foot) or is more about what feels right? Cheeky question: any chance of a how to video to show how you paint brickwork?
Andrew P
Hi George, yes a video of your painting technique would be good as I like what you have done, what a great little shed. Bodgit
emt_911
George I'm going to have to give that technique a go on some scrap plasticard brick tomorrow. It looks far more effective than the way I'm doing it at the moment. Duncan

emt_911
George Another cracking, informative video. Thanks for the reminders of the Baron's techniques. Duncan
Andrew P
Hi George, Thanks for a great video and the plugs, really well put together. Just a note, your doors are the wrong way up, the diagonals should hold UP the outer side supporting it from the wood with the hinges. Cheers Bodgit
