HSB
Howard, Any chance of some film of one of your locos at work? Regards, Chris I think I've posted this before but I can't find it! Shot quite some time ago:-
HSB
I now have some Expo 7mm scale 'Stone Sets' embossed plastic sheets so I can now crack on with the ladestrasse. The original sheet I experimented with turns out to have been 4mm scale so I have now pulled this up and started laying the new stuff.

south_tyne
Things are coming on nicely Howard. Excellent but of scenic modelling at the level crossing, it's all bedding in really well. David

HSB
Just a few more inches of ladestrasse to put down now. I've also started laying the gravel on the passenger platforms. I'm using some Woodland Scenics 'Buff' ballast to contrast with the colour of the track ballast.
HSB
I've now got the last bit of the ladestrasse cut out and stuck down! It still needs tidying up before I paint it. I realised while I was building it that it I should have stuck it to a sheet of something to raise it up above the ground slightly so I have ended up carving some wood away around it instead! The bits of scenery I hacked away are now covered with a layer of brown paper awaiting a coating of coloured plaster. HSB
It's about 5 weeks since my last update during which time I have been trying to colour the stone sets to my satisfaction. Unfortunately the surface of the plastic sheets doesn't take paint very well and it has been a real pain trying to get paint to stay on while weathering it with washes of acrylic paint. In retrospect roughing up the surface with a light sanding might have helped. Better still they could have moulded the material in a suitable stone colour like Wills's 00 sheets which would have just needed weathering! Anyway it is now done and I have taken a picture of one end of the ladestrasse with my one and only German road vehicle - a tractor bought at Guildex. railwayrod
Howard that looks really good. I can tell that a great deal of hard work has gone into that surface. Well done. Rod
HSB
I have made a start on my first building which will be very loosely based on this one I shot through my hotel window in Kamp Bornhofen last time I was there:- So far I have cut out the base and the front wall:-

HSB
I have been working on the scenery around where the house will fit and I am also slowly progressing with the house itself. Once I have glazed the windows and added a little bit more bracing I'll make a start on the roof. I had planned to try some of the stick-on tiles from York Modelmaking but found there was a problem with their website and it wouldn't accept my order!
HSB
The windows are now glazed with a representation of net curtains behind them made from one layer split from a 2-ply tissue. I have now made a start on the roof.
HSB
Happy New Year everyone. The roof is now on along with a chimney stack. I was able to order some tiles from York Modelmaking at my second attempt so I'm now waiting for those to arrive.
HSB
I have now got the guttering and down pipe in place and painted so the next stage will be sticking on the tiles.
HSB
I have started sticking on the tiles. I just hope I can get the left and right sides to match up when they meet above the dormer window!
HSB
To my relief the tiles do line up pretty well! If anybody is wondering why they slope down to one side this is not a mistake but common German practice as illustrated in the picture below taken at Cochem on the Moselle. I have no idea what the rationale is, though.
HSB
I have now finished tiling the front of the roof:-
