SGJ
Liking the new plan a lot david Hi David, Its is great to know that you like the plan, its appreciated that you and the rest of the rmwebbers take the time to view it and are helpful with advice SGJ
SGJ
I am experimenting today with the depot area, I think the extra siding could add to the layout a bit more. I Have also done a bit more to the goods yard Bellow : A concrete front for a forklift to drive along ( dont have a forklift yet though ) to unload and load the wagons
SGJ
I have done / doing a corner of the layout to try Javis scenery, for a horse field. I have used PVA, water and a drop of washing up liquid to glue some card packaging, then cut out a shape from A4 paper glued down with the PVA mix, then coated with the mixture, and then put the Javis scatter over the top. If there are better ways I am open to suggestions scenery isn't easy for me, but love to try things out images bellow I have put some Heki trees on, and some Modelscene horses. In a few days time if it looks fine I will cover the scatter with a matt varnish spray to fix loose scatter unless its better to use something else ? ( advise welcome again ). SGJ
I have made a start to the back alley, it is the road that will lead into the coal yard. I will be putting a line of terraced houses In Between the back alley and the edge of the baseboard. I am thinking about which manufacturer either scenix or superquick. Steve O.
Hi SGJ, You're on TV! (or at least my Apple TV internet decoder box) I have the screen saver set to Flickr using "British Railways" as a search term. It normally picks up random prototype photos but... there's Armley Moor! Looks great on a 46" screen ) Cheers, Steve.
SGJ
The latest plan for Armley Moor I now have a dog aswell, but no name at the moment SGJ
SGJ
I was thinking about replacing the Javis sleeper fencing behind the fueling point with a thinner fence, I had thought to use the ratio fencing but then thought to make a scratch built fence so to have something of my own on the layout This is the sleeper fencing that I wanted to replace I used Javis balso strips and PVA The next job is to neaten up the edges of the fence and trim the posts to the same level, then paint and weather it. RSLR
A slower departure for the intercity 47 SGJ Hi SGJ, Agreed allot slower that time As always good taste for traction All looks good on the model so far, I quite liked your Javis 'upright' sleeper fencing you had before... I think it could have looked alright by the time you got your ballast and grass in (perhaps you could use it elsewhere). But it will be interesting to see how your new and improved balsa strip fence will look once done, painting and weathering will probably be key. The plan looks good too, gives an idea on where everything is. As for your post on scenery, I believe it probably should be 'fun' more than anything else and putting a landscape for your trains to run in. Many of us have our different methods, mixes and materials of choice. Some favour scatters and coloured chippings etc while others favour the more modern and superior static grasses or the more hairy type grasses. It's all down to your personal choice and there are allot of products available to choose from on the market. My personal choice is I favour the hairy type grasses over scatters as I feel the scatter materials are very flat (this is mainly because they are produced using dyed & dried seeds or sawdust). But scatters can be used to good effect, what your doing looks fine. On my layout I prefer to build buildings and detail my stock so less is left for the scenery, my method is just fluffy hanging basket liner (which is also very cheap £2 per square meter) for the grass, woodland scenic for used in conjunction with rubberised horsehair (among other things) for bushes/trees and N gauge granite chippings for ballast. But some like to just do the simple static grasses or scatter materials like yourself. While to the extreme there are some who like to do nothing but scenery and will buy the most expensive high end products like Silflor for grass, scale leafy material for trees and bushes with even authentic to scale ivy crawling up the branches. In short there is no right or wrong when it comes to scenery. I hope that counts as some kind of 'advice' or input Looking good so far mate! SGJ
I have done a bit more work on the goods area, although I do eventually want to have cobbles there its going to be Tarmac at the moment I am also going to have some houses on the layout, Probabley the same as these Dapol examples, although these two are old they give the idea of where they will be positioned and just for fun and a general view of the layout as it is now SGJ

RSLR
Hi,All looks spot on SGJ, ballast looks great! and it's good to see you've reused the fencing definitely looks the part around the coal yard.Bit of real coal and weathering is next step perhaps?Keep the updates and proper trains coming mate! You might want to dull the platforms down abit though, very bright and shiny I don't think the paint did what it says on the tin!Cheers, Reece

SGJ
The layout is a bit messy at the moment, I have had to shorten it a bit so the run-round at the top of the station has gone, Vicky couldn't get to the tumble dryer, I am also re working the depot area again...
