SGJ
Nice collection of DMUs you have!! ive just bought Bachmann class 108 DMU set BR blue /grey with Welsh dragon logo... I do like the 108s, and the 110 Calder units, I am thinking of getting a 110 in blue grey soon, that may have to wait till Doncaster or Ally Pally though as I am now saving for 2014 holidays, just paid for a visit to Butlins in February with the missus and the younger two kids. yorkie_pudd
The 25 sounds real good in the vid with the new 16t`s, any more thoughts about what you may do with the depot area change yet ?
SGJ
The 25 sounds real good in the vid with the new 16t`s, any more thoughts about what you may do with the depot area change yet ? I have left the depot in place until I can think of a better use for the area, I am thinking about reducing the length of the track outside of the shed, and having housing behind it, but as i said previously have a line for stabling, something like how it is done at Skipton ( although that's more than one line at Skipton ) https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&ll=53.958286,-2.031124&spn=0.00178,0.004823&t=h&z=18 SGJ
yorkie_pudd
That sounds a stunning idea of the Skipton stable point near the terraced houses, and give extra dimension too Armley I reckon.

SGJ
I have been tidying up down stairs in the back room, and decided to have a quick go on Armley Moor, some shots were taken... I still have not lifted the depot yet, I think now that maybe get a single road shed for the pit line, and the other two roads could be used for stabling, I know about pikestuff, and modern Hornby traction shed, so i will decide at Pontefract show or Doncaster... I also need some brake vans SGJ

yorkie_pudd
Looks like the shunt driver had too much Christmas liquids, but good Parallel parking though. plenty of good era stock now on Armley Moor.

SGJ
I have put a knightwing shed in place of the peco depot to see how it looks, and I like it a lot more, I think the peco Depot was too over powering however I am interested in others opinions... yorkie_pudd
shame you don't have space for both next to each other with the older knight wing shed heavily weathered giving a site modernisation scheme insitu.
SGJ
shame you don't have space for both next to each other with the older knight wing shed heavily weathered giving a site modernisation scheme insitu. I could make the space, I think however the peco shed is too big, the depot just needs a servicing bay for the units that are in between turns, and possibly loco stabling whilst the yard pilot is used in the goods shed and coal yard, but it is a good idea to mix different items to create the illusion of age and atmosphere. yorkie_pudd
I agree and sometimes less is more so the knightwing fits in well with the plans.
SGJ
I have made a start with ballasting platforms 1,2, and 3, so I am working away from the goods depot area, I have not yet got as far as the points ( not looking forward to ballasting them ), but I have already run out of the stuff It isnt yet glued down as I am still thinking about what to use ( copydex, pva, or Varnish ) SGJ

SGJ
I have decided now to put the Peco depot back. The two signals have the ladders added to the backs of them, and I have built a Dapol fence around the re positioned fueling point, the fuel unloading point has been moved too, the area where the fuel unloading point was is now the depot head shunt, so a bit of alteration to how I want it, which is how I originally wanted it more or less. The Signals The over all view ( Where the mk2 coach is is now the head shunt for the depot ) The fuel unloading point on the left ( re-positioned ) The Dapol fence The freight head shunt to the left, the main up / down lines in the middle, the fence and depot to the right SGJ

SGJ
I have now changed from the power cab to a Gaugemaster Prodigy. Ben ( my son ) now has the Power can for his n scale 56. Also the coal train has 5 more wagons to it Also got two new vehicles Bens new 56 Ben using the Prodigy before It went onto my layout
SGJ
I am planning to change the track work around the end of the platforms slightly in order to be able to have longer trains, currently I can have 6 coaches and a loco in platforms 1 and 2, but I would like a Hornby HST in executive livery ( http://www.Hornby.com/shop/2014-range/diesel-locomotive-and-packs/r3271-br-intercity-class-43-hst/ ) I know it is not available yet, but I can pre-plan for it. I may make a start on it tomorrow ( Sunday ) but operating the layout with the new Prodigy is quite fun ! If I do change the layout it might look a bit like this... SGJ
I have decided rather than altering the track around the station throat I will extend the end of the layout ( terminus end ) and shorten the curve end, so I be able to run longer trains soon This end will be reduced by 12 inches aprox This end will be increased by about 24 inches or there about SGJ
SGJ
I have done some more with the ballasting, It needs to be neatened up a little bit but I am pleased with the result, ( even the depot ). I will try add the extension to the station over the next few days, but it wont have any platform for a while ( pay-day hurry up ), I may use the temporary wooden platform that I had before. yorkie_pudd
The extension will be interesting to see how you modify the station length but will the longer trains fit in to the fiddle yard, will that cope ok or need an extension also ?
SGJ
Post 64 with the cross over in the station is pretty much how it is going to be again This was a suggestion in the "early days" if I remember correctly to have a run round in the station which I did then took up again. For the fiddle yard I am intending to make the layout a u shape end to end; at the moment it is L shaped and the fiddle yard can cope with 6 MK2c plus big loco ( peak sized ) when it is done properly, it will be able to hold a 2 + 7 HST set for the length which will be around 10 foot long ( it maybe longer over all with the point work, I intend to use 3 way points when it becomes a u shape but no firm plan yet ).
