My Dad has a 1.6 Twin Cam in his Traveller, which goes quite nicely. I saw a 2.0 Twin Cam Minor at a show over the weekend - I bet that goes like stink!

They may well go, but what's the stopping like..? I remember there being a piece on 'Points West' in the mid-1970s about a firm in the Bristol/ North Somerset area doing re-engineered Travellers with Marina engines. The presenter emphasised that the brakes had also been upgraded.

We were at a sprint once with a two door Minor saloon with a 2 litre Fiat Twink lump in it entered. That didn't half shift...!!

I've just come across a CX GTi Turbo for not much more than three grand. That's much more realistic than the ten grand that other joker was asking for.

How does the condition compare though? I could still but a Mk1 Escort for £5K (which is ridiculous in itself!) but it would be a basket case needing a ton of work. If I want a good, ready to go with no further work needed car I'd be looking at probably 4 times that.

I've seen it go through a full recommission, which included rust removal and new metal let in, plus a full respray. Better yet, the car has no sunroof, so fewer drain holes to get blocked.

.....but it's not a diesel.

I think a K series out of a Rover  25 or 45, or an MG ZR or ZS would be easier and you can get these cars as cheap as chips. Frontline do all the bits to fit them into a Spridget, dunno what gearbox they recommend though.

Ed

I imagine it will be the ford sierra 5 speed box which is commonly used, either with the A series engine or K series. A friend has a much modified midget with 1.8k series, ford sierra box and modified MGB back axle. It is unbelievable to drive.

If the RR car was not owned by the driver, then a claim would be expected, and paid out, by the insurer, to the RR owner...The insurer would then seek to recover the cost from the Toyota driver?

Either way, the driver is stuffed??

Update to the rolled Rolls report: apparently the new owner's insurance policy hadn't started at the time of the accident! It was apparently worth ten grand.

Easy come, easy go.

May be a bit more than that. It looks like a Wraith and might even be a 2 door, which are like rocking horse doo doo.

So,the driver was the owner.....not looking good for him, then?

Let's put it this way: he's just lost ten grand's worth of car. Still, at least most of the bits below the waistline can be salvaged for parts....and the rear windscreen, bootlid and offside rear door still look alright.

Is a ten grand Shadow (even one you've just done your dough on) worth the considerinable effort of reshelling? There always seemed to be zillis around. And given the owner's apparent degree of competence I wouldn't trust him to do the work himself so thats just tripled the bill.

You can with a CX Prestige.

Alternatively, a DS or a Traction Avant.

I wish we'd had a Citroen for my daughter's wedding instead of the hideous 'kit car' 40's lookalike thing the wedding car company provided for the bride - & on which the rear passenger door flew open at 50mph on the way to the reception & which overheated when it finally got there....!! (at least the in laws got a 50% refund for that! It was one of the few things i didn't pay for, if I had I'd have held out for all the money back!)
