RMweb Gold russ p Posted February 20, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 20, 2017 _DSC0217-7.jpg West Highland Line 1955....................OK, actually NYMR 2015. Original tender looked better. This one makes the back end look too boxy and spoils the elegant lines a little. A sight probably never to be seen again sadly

bingley hall
A total of 755 of these stylish WP class broad gauge Pacifics were built for the Indian Railways between 1947 and 1967. Unfortunately they never reached the heady speeds suggested by their streamlining. WP 7209 was one of the initial prototype batch of 15 locomotives built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1947 and was still going strong when photographed on the Northern Railway at Lucknow - 10 November 1978.
bingley hall
Three vintage ALCo models still at work in Australia, taken in Junee, New South Wales, last Wednesday afternoon. All three are owned by transport and logistics company QUBE and are used on container shuttles in the area. DL531 model 864 was built for the South Australian Railways in 1963 and has seen a number of owners over the years. CE615 8044 is 20 years younger having been built by Comeng in 1982 for the NSW State Rail Authority. ALCo 'World' DL500B 4458 was built for the New South Wales Government Railways in 1961.

Peppercorn
I've always liked the standards, this one at Keighley on Sunday of the late May bank holiday, when rain threatened, and it was my middle grandsons's first trip to see a steamer. His response wasn't exactly overwhelming, though. I think that that it didn't measure up to the real engines as portrayed by Rev'd Awdry. Still hopefully, there'll be other occasions...

bingley hall
Using frames, fuel tanks and bogies (although obviously not the latter in this pic) from withdrawn 442 class ALCos, along with refurbished General Electric generators and components recovered from withdrawn Conrail C30-7 locomotives, are the GL class. 12 were created by A Goninan in 2003/2004 for loco leasing specialist CFCL Australia - GL105 was at Goulburn, New South Wales, on 7 June 2012..

bingley hall
Polish Railways Pm2 34 was built by Berliner Maschinenbau AG (BMAG) in 1936 (Works no. 10629) one of 298 Class 03 light Pacifics built for the German Railways between 1930 and 1937, 36 of which passed to Poland after WWII. On 29 July 1977 it was coming off Bydgoszcz shed to work the 1219hrs Bydgoszcz to Piła passenger service. It was painted a sort of drab olive/green/brown which hasn't gone down to well with 34-year old Agfachrome.
