Big James
I think the SECR P class are preserved at exactly 50%. Big James.

RMweb Premium 5944 Posted July 24, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 24, 2013 I might have suggested the EE class 50's I think there's more 50s preserved than were actually built :-)
Katier
Does anyone know how many 'Ffestiniog style' small and large Englands were built. Of those built for the Ffestiniog 50% of the large, and 75% of the small still exist (and all will be steaming in the forseable future). Similarly 100% of the Boston Lodge built Double Fairlies exist?
avonside1563
The Hunslet designed Austerity saddle tank numbers around 70 examples in preservation and whilst this is no where near 50%, with a build of 485 examples, it does make it the most numerous class preserved which says something for its longevity and general usefulness. Castle
Hi All, How about a GWR class with a full 20% of the members preserved? All the best, Castle
37079
Hi All, How about a GWR class with a full 20% of the members preserved? All the best, Castle I presume you are referring to the 1361 saddle tanks with 1363 the only survivor of 5 built. As a % though, there are more surviving Manors with nearly a third surviving (9 of 30 built) including Didcot's own 7808. Mike
Castle
Well done Mike! If you want 50% preservation in GWR classes then No. 1340 is in that camp... It is true about the Manors - luck of the draw as far as Barry was concerned there I suspect. A very useful type in preservation it has to be said. A nice shiny green (or black!) passenger engine with a name plate (which the average non enthusiast punter likes to see) and yet not too heavy on the fuel bills. Chameleon
Bet you were expecting a simple answer OP?
Torn-on-the-platform
Bet you were expecting a simple answer OP? I think the simple answer is the SECR P class to be fair There is a realistic possibility that all 4 will be in steam at the same time in a few years!
