I guess todays equivalent is class 150 150001/2 unique as 3 car sprinters but I guess much is the same as the 150/1 & 150/2 and the centre car probably isn’t far removed from the 317/318/319 centre cars. When the 1960 tender exercise for the new Standard Type 4 was being prepared the Eastern Region Area Board made it very clear to the BTC they wanted Brush involved as is reflected in their meeting minutes of 11 March 1960. "As experience with Brush diesel locomotives in the Region had shown them to be superior to other makes, it would be advantageous for this firm to be included among those to be invited to supply the new Type 4 locomotive; the signs are the new Type 4 should develop not less than 2800hp.
