170208 - Debuts in "The Brecks" livery

Today, 31 July 2013, 170208 was formally released to traffic carrying it's new advertising livery - The Brecks - it had made a couple of journeys yesterday, which is when I became aware of it's new coat and then today a picture was posted on Flickr, my son sent me the link and by careful examination of the timetable I reckoned it would work "The stopper" from Norwich to Cambridge, so I left work and made with all haste to Eccles Road, a minute or two later 170208 rolled up so I photographed it and then ran to the other end of the platform to get some "slices" (much to the amusement of the passengers ! - alive but barely a man, we can rebuild him (in P4)) - not brilliant but they'll do; and there's only ever one first day in service; and it was at my local station so I'm happy.

Hi Missy , Almost record has to go to the Central/london Midland Bullring liveried 170 - in days it had windows bricked and vinyls overlaped windows so new windows lost the affect and it was a total mess more than its orginal effort. Did you see the Wales and West/ Wessex 153s in Cornish advert liveries - and coolest livery Ginsters 158s !

Back on topic livery good to reduce to 4mm and great photos.

I've got pictures of all of those too - I don't limit ugly to modern day !

(I know people don't always like the moden liveries but can we avoid wandering off into debates about how much better the good old days colour schemes were please - they normally end up locked)

I did wonder that - aside from the crossing barriers, there didn't appear to be any steps leading up to the door!

Abolished December last year.

170208 is about to arrive at Lowestoft before returning to Ipswich, via Saxmundham - guess where I'm going for lunch !

It's back through Saxmundham today, the torrential rain has stopped and will hopefully stay off until after it's passed - it's going the opposite way so better for photographs.

To bring this full circle

170208 left the area today heading for Crewe for it's overhaul which should see the end of the Brecks livery.
