Got to some good work in today with the street side of the Mews buildings almost finished. One wall to trim and fit and add glazing. The back yard side will probably get started tomorrow.
Warning bare backside photo!

A bit more progress with roof tiles added on the “finished” side. I’ve now made a start on the side that faces the railway line. Won’t be any progress for a couple of days as I’m at work….at least I can get a pot of Tamiya XF59 Dessert Sand which is what I’m using for London brick.

Finally got round to repainting the Reliant Supervan III. I used a Tamiya acrylic which was very close to the original cars colour. Details picked out with paint pens. Front glazing is plasticard, the rest are Krystal Klear. The only difference between the model and my Dads was that his had side windows in the van area.

Two walls out of three now complete on the rear of the Mews houses. Roof tiles done bar the ridges. The Replitek Mini van has had a repaint for a florists.

At the other end of the scale I’ve added a load to one of the BRUTE trollies….some 1981 Motorail brochures…….couldn’t find my 1980 brochure so some time travel is required!

I’ve just ordered half of what I think will be quite a big project , from Shapeways. It’ll be a couple of weeks before the postman is thumping on the door(clue! ). I’ll order the rest once I’ve received the first part and am happy I can complete it and it won’t cinque(another clue).

It is a 6B…I have two MBSs and the TFK on order. The Buffet and TS vehicles will be ordered later.  I have always wanted to have Hastings unit having travelled on many Merrymaker excursions in them and on their home territory. Power will be supplied by a Farish 4CEP that I bought to be a 4TC substitute towed by a class 73 on the Kenny Belle. Building the 4TC set meant that the 4CEP was surplus.

I’ll post some photos when it arrives.

Looking forward to build of the 6B. I am currently very very slowly doing a 3D design for firstly a Tadpole and then by adding in the TFK I will have a 6S. All in 4mm but might have a look at N gauge as well.

A slight detour from yet another building………the Farish TARDIS   police call box arrived in stock this week.

I found a suitable figure to alter to become the 4th Doctor ( the scarf is hand knitted…..OK it’s a a bit of heat shrink tubing) along with one for Sarah Jane and a bit of square section plastic became K9.

A productive day at the York area NGS meeting. The last building to be built prior to the York NRM show has been largely cut out. There are other buildings to do but as they block the view at an exhibition there’s not much point in starting them.

A milestone was reached today. No more buildings to make for Olympia prior to its first exhibition. Some of the existing kit built buildings will eventually be replaced but for the time being all done! The Mews now want planting properly in place and some alterations to what has already completed too. Garden walls now need to be added too, as well a surface for the courtyard.

Just after 1230 UPS delivered my half a 6B…..two motor coaches and a TFK.  Not easy to photograph as they are translucent but they certainly look the part. No engine details on the roof or horns ( probably too small to print) no door handles or hinges (ditto). Corridor connections are a bit under nourished, no toilet filler pipe work. Ventilators are nicely fine. Sides are thinner than I expected so I will glaze it from the inside.

I think this is going to be an interesting project.

Today I made a start on clearing up the mess that my railway room has become. It doesn’t look like much has been done, but I’ve made a start getting buildings boxed up and stored prior to the show at the NRM. The back yards of some of the mews houses have been laid…….a bit more to do.
A second baseboard is now propped up on the floor so that I can get to other inaccessible parts.

One small job that’s been on to do list has been to glaze the lower deck rear window of the rest of my ODC Routemaster buses. Some got done a few years ago but the last five were done today.

Tomorrows plan is to complete the tidy up and then sort out rolling stock and locos for the exhibition. I need to pair up the class 25s on DCC as they will run doubleheaded.
This is a good idea and might replace some of the powered class 25 chassis 3D printed dummy chassis.

Best laid plans etc………I ended up fitting West Hill Wagon works magnetic buckeye couplers to quite a lot of stock.

The Brighton - Manchester stock, just a Rapido at the ends to attach to the locomotives. These were two 7 car sets, the day one with a Buffet. I have a choice of RBR(ish) and RMB plus two spare vehicles to ring the changes.
