Evening all,

The 3 class 37 resprays are basically complete now they have received a coat of satin varnish and all glazing refitted. Gave them all a test to check all the marker, head and tail lights work. They will be weathered at some point and the bufferbeam detail has not been added yet as not decided on coupling types.

Also continued with the Transrail class 56, transfers applied. Got a damaged buffer so will be on the look out for some brass replacements.

Here is the progress so far.

This was also given a quick run to see how it looks.

Cheers

Chris 'Springs Branch' reminded me this morning about some wagons EWS had made to carry road trailers. Would look a bit different marshalled in an Intermodal rake. From what I can read and remember they were not that successful and were eventually removed from service, I believe some never actually carried any traffic at all, not sure how true that is. From the pictures I can find show only ParcelForce trailers being carried. Time to look for some drawings.........

This picture linked from Flickr shows this FHA in use during 1999 and pictures show them in use during 2002 but not found out when they were withdrawn.

I should not be looking for more things to build when still got lots of unfinished jobs on the go! :nono:  :jester:

Cheers

The Dapol class 156 which I was respraying into Regional Railways North West livery has been lurking on the back of the workbench for a while now. So tonight I managed to sort out the cantrail striping using Railtec transfers and add the warning flashes. The running numbers have been ordered from Railtec. Here is the progress so far. Still little bits of detail to pick out yet.

Once the paintwork is all varnished, the fun part begins of reassembly, I have a box of bits. Hopefully nothing missing.

Cheers

They were booked to pass Warrington around 04:30 but on the morning of 14 July 1999 - on my way to work - I checked  Bank Quay around 07:00 and found :

86261 stands on the Up Goods Loop on 4M75 01:45 Mossend - Willesden E.T Piggyback (150 late)

Unfortunately it pulled away as I walked to photograph it so I never got the front 3/4 shot.

I recommend the Duchess buffers from N Brass. Look great on the 56.

Got some more freight stock today so ran my 2 longest trains. The MGR rake is 26 wagons long and Intermodal is 16(4 are Freightliner spine wagons which will be replaced). Plan is to get the Intermodal upto atleast 20 wagons and the MGR to 30 wagons.

Here they are both passing on Dallam.

Cheers

Really enjoying the videos Simon. Keep them coming!

Best regards,

Jeremy

Will do and glad you like them. Transfers for the unit numbers on the 156 arrived from Railtec today. So once testing of stock was done the transfers were applied. Also bits of detail picked out, handrails, door indicators. The transfers went on really well.

Steve kindly sent a 3D nameplate sample and must say am very impressed. Think will be using these for the Dallam fleet.

The sample plate is Gartcosh in black background which was worn by 37037 in Railfreight metals livery and would have been seen passing Dallam in the very early 90's....... hmmmm

Look very similar to the Tiphook piggyback wagons.

http://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/piggyback

The major difference was that the 4-wagon 'spine' sets had to be loaded by crane or forklift, as the wheels sit on either side of a fixed beam. The Tiphook wagon had a pivoted floor, so trailers could be reversed on to it, with 'terminals' requiring no more than a compressor (for the air supply) and a smooth (ish) surface for road access.

Both systems required specially-designed, or heavily-modified, road trailers. That for the 'spine' trailers had to be capable of being bodily lifted, and had to have the wheels on one side independent of the other; the one for the Tiphook system could only load tank trailers, or vans with a chamfered upper edge, because of loading-gauge restrictions.

With the class 156 bodyshells sprayed with satin varnish and roof sections sprayed executive dark grey, not more I can do with this till tomorrow at the earliest.

So decided to have a go at weathering the Freightliner spine wagons I purchased by accident as forgot they were not built till 2003. This is practice ready for eventually doing 18+ Farish Intermodal wagons.

Here is the practice so far.

The bogies have not been done yet as realised the axlebox covers should be painted green and I want this to show through the weathering. Happy so far but the deck will need some marking from containers.

Finally the respray of the Dapol class 156 into RRNW is complete. The unit has been re-assembled which took alot longer than expected. The dummy car was tricky as the underframe section is quite flimsy.

Here is 156464 working the 10:17 Man Picc to Llandudno in multiple with a 150/1.

At somepoint in the near future weathering will be added along with passengers and a driver & guard.

Evening all,

Tonights task was to make a start on the only planned BR Blue loco on the layout so far, 08784 which could be seen around Warrington in its rather faded and grubby BR blue livery. First job was to remove the redundant marker lights and brackets from the ends and fill any holes.

The original Farish number 08748 was removed with enamel thinners, cotton buds and kitchen roll.

Railtec numbers were applied and Fox warning symbols. The white grab rails on the engine access doors have all been painted blue. Here is progress so far.

post-6834-0-43450500-1505167416_thumb.jpg

Also got the remaining Intermodal Multifrets weathered. Although not correct I used them as a load behind the Freightliner 86's.

Here the 86's are passing a FNW 156 which is slowing for its WBQ stop. Loadhaul 37 just blasted North on a short rake of wagons possibly an Enterprise working.

Cheers

Excellent Simon

What it is it about trains overtaking trains ? Really nice to watch.

Read back on your posts, and can't speak highly enough of the Railtec nameplates, they go on so easily. I was going for etched until I read an article on the business a few months back.

Regards - Stephen

Thanks Stephen, yes it is something I do like to set up during operation. RE: Railtec, Following the sample I received, I am sold, need to knock a list of names I will require for my fleet.

Cheers
