Hopefully an easy one for the genned up folk to answer regarding preserved Collet 66x tank no. 6697, in it's later BR days when it wore the post 1956 crest, was it in all over black, lined green or unlined green livery please?

I have this undated 'end on' photo of it inside the lifting shop at Banbury taken by my other half's late Dad, but identifying the livery is nigh on impossible!

Thanks in advance ;)

Thanks for your replies chums, very halpful!

John - those flickr pics are spot on many thanks ;-)

CK - alas not mate, as far as I recall this is the only 56xx/66xx'er in Ken's collection, most of which is from the Thames Valley area where they were a bit thin on the ground ;-)

Hi All,

Didcot's only GWR designed but contractor built machine was indeed a Croes Newydd machine at the end and there is a helpful picture on this page too...

http://www.didcotrailwaycentre.org.uk/locos/6697/6697.html

Interestingly, she was the only one of her kind preserved out of service, the rest took a South Wales holiday of varying durations...

I hope this helps!

All the best,

Castle
