South-East Rail
Hello. Just a quick update: I've cut out most of the cork underlay, as well as all the sections of track. Although the layout isn't yet wired properly, I've been able to run a few trains on a temporary set-up. Pictures will (hopefully) come soon! South-East Rail
Hello all. Haven't updated this in months! The layout has been progressing rather slowly due to A-levels but now I have the whole summer to continue developing it. Currently, the glue is drying on the first section of track to be fixed down. When the gluing is all finished I'll move on to ballasting, weathering and installing Peco Code 60 third rail. I'll try not to leave it so long until the next update! South-East Rail
Finally, some photos! The Network Rail yard. 37419 is a respray - almost finished! This is based on a real structure at Deal Some rusty ZCV Clam bodies are rotting in a corner. A new extension is this compact intermodal terminal. A repainted container, based on one seen in an old copy of Rail Express Modeller. Detail of the 3rd rail. I'm part way through turning this into 60020. A weathered KFA container flat. I've just completed my first wagon kit, a Cambrian SPA. Sorry it's been so long! Ed Edited August 6, 2014 by South-East Rail

South-East Rail
Hi all, I realise it's been quite a while since my last update! Sorry about that. University has meant that I haven't touched the layout since early October. In the meantime I've been to Warley for the first time, a thoroughly enjoyable experience. It also allowed me to blow my birthday money on a Model Rail limited edition ECR Class 66! Below are some pictures from the summer - the first three from Deal (the real thing!), the rest from the GWML around Cholsey. All the above photos are from my flickr photostream - https://www.flickr.com/photos/se_rail/ Hopefully there will be a proper layout update in a couple of weeks' time; I can't guarantee anything, though! South-East Rail
Hello Ed, ; Are you running it Dcc or dc. Ed ?. Hi David, DCC - Hornby Elite Looking forward to your latest pictures my mate.. You're in luck! A day later than promised, but here you go: A couple of pictures of the road and level crossing. The barriers and lights are mock-ups; I'll probably have a go at replicating the real barriers at Deal. The road is made from painted fine sandpaper; I'm not sure about the colour yet. Scratchbuilt fence! The mesh (from Hafords) isn't quite fine enough to pass for 00 scale but it'll do. This is what Deal's intermodal terminal will hopefully end up looking like. I'll keep the polystyrene if I can embed the rails into it without too much difficulty. Some relatively new arrivals: 66062 in ECR 60099 in Tata silver Some photos of my long-term repaint - 60020 in DB red. The transfers for the electrification flashes (from R3sprays) arrived today, so the project shouldn't take too long to finish. Finally, I'm considering changing the layout's name, as it doesn't really look like Deal at all! Any ideas? South-East Rail
Thanks for all the very kind comments. David, that's a really interesting map. Cheers! Today I bought myself an early Christmas present - a couple of Hornby's new Mk2Es. They are by no means perfect but they're due a repaint into DRS Compass livery. Pics soon! As regards the name - possibly Albert Road (which goes over the level crossing at the northern end). Any thoughts? Here are the latest photos. 37419 with two DRS Mk2Es mid-way through a repaint. Three Tugs! 60020 (finally finished(ish)!), 60014 and 60099. A weathered OCA wagon Two Javelins! 395001 and my Christmas present, 395005. The two 395s with 60020 in the distance. One day I could recreate St Pancras! All the best!
