JZ
Would I need something something that can handle a higher amperage for the twin motors?
RMweb Premium 7013 Posted December 27, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 27, 2013 I was talking to Chris at A&H models, he did not feel that it would be a problem for a Lenz decoder, when I do eventually get my pre order I am going to take it into A&H and get it tested for current draw before I decide which decoder to put in. Stevelewis
No problem usually with a 1 amp decoder and 2 motors, todays motors dont pull too much (power wise that is NOT referring to HAULAGE Capacity!!) so unless you are thinking of hauling 80 wagon trains you should be OK. I fitted a Bachmann Brass 0 Gauge class 25 (2 motors) with a Lenz 1 Amp decoder around 7 years ago, the 1 amp decoder was used as a stop gap, because that was the only spare decoder to hand at the time, the intention was to fit a larger capacity decoder later, however it is still going strong with the original 1 amp decoder, admittedly it is only running on a small layout where the train length is limited to around 9 or 10 wagons or 3 bogie coaches
