Just to keep the pot on the boil, these are photos taken in the Tabor to Bechyne branch at Sudomerce u Bechyne.

Hope you like. This may form the basis for my own Czech layout later in the year...

Just got back from Czech Republic.

Came across this at Mirovice on the way. I do like these units and I must say it sounded great when it pulled away.

I have a resin body one in TT.

They are also available in HO in resin but not seen any about recently in the shops. They are comfortable to travel in aswell.

There is supposed to be an etched kit at some stage from Modely Masinek, now only TT

Can anyone tell me if this is based on an actual prototype?

Any info would be useful.

Hey Squeaky, yes, 144 pieces of BR106/V60DR were imported between 1976 - 1983 to Czechoslovakia mostly for industry.

The loco was made by LEW Hennigsdorf, Germany. They are still quite common in Germany.

Having recently returned from a trip to the Czech Republic to see the 760mm narrow gauge lines I thought I'd add something to this thread concerning "detailing" that can make or break a layout...

We visited several model shops whilst over there and over the past few years there has been a massive increase in the number of "cottage industry" concerns doing signage and other small detailing bits (such as recycling bins, etc., etc.) in both HO and TT scales. In addition there are lots of excellent laser cut and plastic kits available specifically for Czech prototypes. The quality of these items is outstanding.

As an example I have put a link to one of the manufacturers which also has a rather useful list of shops that stock their items. Whilst nowhere near an exhaustive list of shops over there I'd suggest that if they stock this guy's stuff then they are worth a visit purely for them! The brand names are Sikulove and Igra Model, in addition, especially for signs I'd also suggest ES Pecky.

What's the story lads?

Taking some time to settle in a new job, also working late shifts for the last and upcoming month and days off separated from each other so not much time left for the evening webbing or modeling. I do peek here from time to time but haven't really had time to post.

From recent models, no progress on my hopper was made since last update. But I finally got my 810 railcar sprayed, the red could have been darker but it wll do a good base to weathering which should also make it less aparent.

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

today 25 years ago it was the first day of Velvet revolution and the beginning of changes and the fall of socialistic regime in former Czechoslovakia.

Again a small progress on Marian's Czechoslovak Railways, going postal this time, we will have look at my attempt on a Y type postal coach class DmPost,

made from polyurethane cast by Pavel Ciz, some of his master models date back to times from photos above, anyways there has been an awful lot of work on body of the coach to get its sides at least a bit straight and less wavey, middle pic shows layers of filler and base paint, some surface detail succumbed the process and I had to re-add it, this will include photo etched window frames as seen in  the last pic. Chassis and frame will be from an old sacsenmodelle coach.

Hiya guys, many moons since i posted, but ive made some headway with my Czech layout, its also moved house....(my mum has a big loft), so the layout i decided upon the Zlata Vychod name, after some czech beer i found, its based in the North east of the Czech Republic, bordering Germany, with Poland also not that far away, so quite a bit of scope to play trains ;).

Ill add some of the 1st pics i tookafter moving it, the straight end is the DB border end, there is plans for a forth board here with a small shed.....if mother lets me lol.

Yeah, its one of my mums hobby rooms....i built the layout in summer so had it outside..but then winter came....and i realised my house wasnt quite big enough lol, so my mum kindly donated her loft to keep it in while i build it, im hoping its ready/good enough for the 2016 model exhibition calender....time will tell.

Ah, Pavel's resin Tu47!

It's a bit of a sod to get it to look good, those deep windows for a start... You are better off with DK Model's brass kit, David. It makes into a far nicer model and they do a Balm/u to go with it!

My resin one used a Lifelike chassis but it was a little short. The brass kits use a Kato Genesis chassis. Wheelbase and bogie centres about right but the wheels are a little small. However the body is so large and wide that you can't tell especially if you make up the sideframes and stick them on the outside of the Kato bogies. I believe, like many of the Continental kits, we are supposed to modify a Continental N gauge loco by lengthening it, but as me and chassis mods do not make good bedfellows I look for a simpler alternative... And the Kato chassis does run like a sewing machine!
