It really depends what era have you set to model and also whether your station is on main/or branch line. from what I am looking at in  your pics you could have 30 cm high concrete platform or loose balast at the first track close to station building and 50 cm high or higher platform in the middle where the track axis distance is greater (see article above). I will try to find schema for the higher platform somewhere.

Looking forward to see some progress :)

Thats really handy as i am about to start the concrete platform and edging on Dobris so the diagram showing the  spacing from the track tp platofrm is very useful.

  • 1 month later...

Hi chaps.  I'm off to CZ Republic next month for a week of railtouring with various loud (ie un-slienced) Grumpies, with a group of hardcore British cranks who have been bashing these things since the early 1990s, i.e. steam heat days.  I'll post up a load of photos as and when.

Although he would never suggest it, Top Man is a guy called Schwartz, who organises the tours.  This is a good resource, plenty of his excellent photos:

In the meantime I quite fancy a sound chipped 751 as they sound excellent.  The Roco model of 751041 (ref 72923) is allegedly very good indeed.

Is there a UK distributor for MTB?

I am not aware of one for MTB but there are various Czech online traders or shops to get them from.

Mine came from here

http://www.pojezdy.eu/eshop/142-h0-finished-models

Will you be in Prague for any time?

You can arrange to collect them from him.

Another source if in Prague is

Dave,

No UK distributor for MTB.

The MTB Bardotka is better than the Roco. I have one if you want to pop over to have a look before you go. I am looking to get another when I go over. I tend to get stuff sent to the in laws as it's a lot cheaper.

I would recommend Prago models, though don't wear your rucksack as it's a bit snug inside the shop.

They are a short walk from Prague Masarykovo station.

I would also recommend these guys...

Excellent to deal with.

I tried to order from them but when accessing the site via google translate it doesnt like the seurity settings. However if I go straight to their website in Czech I couldnt understand some of the things being asked when setting up a new account.

I emailed them with what I wanted (signals) but no response so far.

Such a shame, foreigners go to CZ more often than I do! And when I go I do not have time to do train things :dontknow:

Looking forward to pics, please do let me know if you will have your way to railway museum Luzna u Rakovnika

pojezdy.eu > Mr. Pohorely speaks English and his attitude towards customers is excellent, also his eshop speaks multiple languages, stock that is not stocked is usually no problem to order

modely.biz > Mr. Dalecky speaks English as far I know, eshop speaks only Czech, if google translate is not letting direct page translate then copy paste may be an option, has a lot of products stocked.

From experience don't expect a reply straight away, I normally expect a reply within 10 days or I then do a chaser which usually works... Dependent on where you are going I could recommend several other shops... Ostrava has on in the station for extra convenience and we found another a short tram ride from Brno station. It really depends on what you are after, they have some really good old-style (as in detail parts, spares, etc.) model railway shops as opposed to the box shifters we often to get over here... There's an incredibly large number of detail pieces in HO scale (and TT!) for things likes signs, etc. as well.

There's only one I've had trouble with, as Marian knows, but even then we got it sorted in the end, you just have to be patient!

The problem in general is the language barrier.
Otherwise there are few rare cases where the products are overpriced, not shipped on time or at all, and these are often products no one else offers.

PM please if you want to know more

Ian,

Google translate struggles with the technical stuff and you end up with the Monty Pythonesque Hungarian " my hovercraft is full of eels" scenario.

Might be worth checking their opening hours as I have been caught out with that before.

In addition, if you get on the email list, the updates come through with a translate thingy attached and this does make it a lot easier. Saying that I just ask the other half to read it out......

In my experience I have not had a problem with them.

Hobby,

May well do Ostrava next time we are there. It is the small detail items that I want to get next.

Cheers Rob - do MTB supply sound equipped locos?

This is the model I fancy -- sound equipped by Roco:

http://www.zeleznicni-modelarstvi.cz/p/dieselova-lok-r-751-131-4-cd-h0-zvuk-18889

MTB locos come ready fitted with a speaker in  dc versions. They take a Plux22 decoders which Zimo do. So you just need a Plux22 connector sound decoder and swap the blanking plate for the decoder. very easy.

it is generally accepted that the MTB bradotka is the better model, however Roco have some nice liveries.

Both of my Roco Bardotka's have 8 pin sockets, so I've used Zimo MX645R from www.artol.sk (excellent service)

Thisi is part no. 72922 which I fitted sound, you also need a 40 x 25mm speaker that fits into the recess, Roco tend to fit 2 x sugar cube speakers now, but I prefer the 40 x 25mm.

For me, both are just as good but for different reasons.

The Roco one comes with optional ploughswith / without a wide slot in whereas the MTB only has one without the wide slot. I tend ot like the ones without the lsots but cut a smaller slot to take a Kadee coupler through it.

The MTB does have finer wheel treads than Roco though.

Schwartz popped over today with his Roco model, which was given to him as a gift by a CZ driver.  As Schwartz dosen't have a layout and isn't a modeller, he didn't know anything about it.  I was very impressed with the detail and quality.  Although its DC and no-sound I was able to give it a run on my DCC layout as my Lenz system allows address 0 to be used for this purpose.  It did look rather odd amongst all of the filthy BR 1970s era locos on my layout!!

The Grumpy rather dwarfed by the Peak (albeit the 45 is OO rather than HO)
