SouthernBlue80s
I will soon own one of these http://imagehost.vendio.com/a/20048869/aview/1317115013258_IMG_0997.jpg I want to change it into this http://www.flickr.com/photos/blue-diesels/4116386301/in/set-72157624412512468 So I have blue paint the number 4 to replace the 9 I can paint the buffer beam dirty black and all the other details and weather However most southern shunters had high level brake pipes - which will be very fiddly to do. (I know one certain skilled individual on here scratch built pipes and they looked great) http://www.flickr.com/photos/blue-diesels/4118745569/in/photostream/ http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/blog/10/entry-1894-faded-glory-modelling-a-faded-mainline-09-shunter/ 1. Does any of the niche kit guys do a high level brake pipe kit for the 08 ? 2. Does anyone have a shot of the rear of 08414 in the early 80s ......as not all shunters were fitted with the pipes ? Was 08414 fitted with pipes???? 3. Does anyone else remember any ashford shunters that were not high pipe fitted? http://www.flickr.com/photos/blue-diesels/4117155388/ If 08414 was fitted with pipes perhaps 08419 becomes 08381 When were the high level pipes fitted to Southern 08s? - As that last shot of 08381 in 1981 shows it without them. eastwestdivide
Searching for 08414 Ashford in google gave a link to an ended ebay auction of a photo captioned 08414 at Ashford in 1982 clearly with high-level pipes, although you can't clearly see the number. Edit: Better still, searching with quote marks round each term "08414" "Ashford" gave this http://www.flickr.com/photos/65618647@N03/8710903980/ of 08414 at Ashford in 1982 with HL pipes
