cheesysmith
I am building a small rake of engineers wagons, and will be using some catfish mixed with other ballast wagons. I have 2 as standard, 2 more fitted with roll bearing but I want to put some oleo's on another. So the question is who makes the oleo buffers as fitted to these? I'm pretty sure they were only 13" but they had 2 ribs and a 2 stepped shank. Just to add variety to the wagons, the 2 I'm wanting to build with oleo's will have one with roller bearing and one with spilt axlebox's.

The Bigbee Line
If you look at a Catfish with the original buffers, the drawhook sits close to the headstock: http://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/brcatfishzev/h101cd181#h1904eea3 This one with Oleo Buffers has the drawhook standing off the headstock on a steel casting. I suspect the buffers have a longer projection than the originals, hence moving the relative position of the drawhook. http://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/brcatfishzev/h101cd181#h32e358a Thanks to Paul Bartlett for the images. I've added some images from my EWS days of the couplings and buffers on some Rudd wagons. Similar arrangement. If a wagon built with short buffers required a replacement buffer it was necessary to fit two slightly shorter Oleo buffers to match the projection of the originals: Edited with RUDD images added
davefrk
Hi Cheesysmith, Lanarkshire Models & Supplies do all the buffers mentioned above and the original heavy buffer as in Ernie's photos. We also do coupling hooks of various types, the one that I've seen on most buffer conversions has been our CH03 or CH07. Hope that helps, Dave www.lanarkshiremodels.com
