RMweb Gold PjKing1 Posted September 24, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 24, 2022 Latest addition, I had purchased this to renumber into D270, one of the first class 40’s to be painted into BR blue but having seen how nice D233 look I might keep it a namer, either way it’ll br ex works with white tyres. Jobs to do are lower the ride height then add various etc detail throughout.
RMweb Gold PjKing1 Posted September 27, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 27, 2022 As promised work has commenced on the latest class 40. First thing I did was removed the buddy to allow access to the bogies, I then removed both bogies and then the two bogie pivot points that sit on top of each bogie. once removed the tops where filed down flat evenly all around, you can see on the photos below the difference between before and after filing. Before refitting these I shortened all four brass wiper pickups, I’ll be soldering wire to these and hardwiring them straight to the circuit board. Next up on todays list was to paint the tyres white and give the bogies a coat of semi gloss black, I’m pretty happy so far.
RMweb Gold PjKing1 Posted September 27, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 27, 2022 Thought I’d see how it’s looking so far, happy so far, next job will be making the steam pipes
RMweb Gold PjKing1 Posted September 28, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 28, 2022 Todays job was to fit the steam pipes to the bogies, I made these last night using jewellers wire (us it’s easy to bend into shape) and a thin strand of wire wrapped around one end to replicate the flexible hose that attaches to the body. I also made the eight lifting brackets, these where made using evergreen strips and are now all fitted. coming along nicely, just need to make the bogie rubbing plates now. 10
RMweb Gold PjKing1 Posted September 29, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 29, 2022 Apart from hardwiring the pickups to the circuit board and fitting sound D233 is more or less finished. I fitted the rubbing plates and added some engine room pipe work etc, first grills and nameplates are now fitted to. Very happy with how it’s turned out and looks at home on Edge Hill
RMweb Gold PjKing1 Posted October 5, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted October 5, 2022 (edited) A week of 0400 alarm calls and early’s has put pay to any modelling, I think the next weathering project will be when Heljan’s D11 arrives in the coming weeks, but don’t worry it’ll be business as usual with plenty of grime Edited October 6, 2022 by PjKing1

I've seen so many paints you can get, oil spills, grease effects, fuel stains etc.
