crossforth
I couldn't find anything in the search so thought I'd ask: Can anybody recommend a type of varnish for spraying on hand painted models? In my case a hand painted Hornby class 91. I've found the Humbrol spray to be patchy and doesn't always spray how you want. Any help would be grateful. Silver Sidelines
Hi Luke You might find one of the above here. I have used Humbrol Satin Varnish using a brush. I find that the finish between different jars can be quite variable - some more shiny than others. I have also found that I need to use Humbrol thinners to allow me to use thin coats. Good luck Ray
RMweb Premium Tim Dubya Posted April 14, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 14, 2014 I've always used the Vallejo acrylic sprays the no problems (usual disclaimer!). Cheers

N15class
I have just started using acrylic artist varnish. Mainly as I trying to find replacements for the Humbrol enamels. Not that I have gone off using them but it is almost impossible to get here. I found the artists acrylic very good, the matt that I have used is not quite as matt as I would like. But it is woth a go.
Karhedron
I use Testors dullcote for a perfect flat finish every time. It is very matt though. If you want something slightly less matt they also do a satin cote although I have not tried it myself.
