I've fitted all my mk2Ds with magnetic couplings. They really do reduce the gap. Ideally I'd like it to go down to <1mm though. Half for preference.

Did you trim your gangways?

I have a set fitted with Keen ones but they tend to separate.

Only 2Ds in this set are a BFK and one TSO, rest are  3x2E, 3x2F, and 2E FO.

I haven't trimmed them as the couplers keep them a fixed distance apart. I do want to get them closer though. And get floating gangways.

This is the previous set. I had to fit locating strips to this set and complete the BSO.

Tempted to get a new 50 for it.

Been looking for the first set, can't find it, so must be put somewhere safe.

Set 4 I am now at a quandary.

Do I do another long double BFK set, or a interregional 2DEF set. Interregional is shorter and uses 50s?

Also another set required with a right mix including 2A.

A final 2B set, do I Accurascale at £60 each or convert Lima for £20 + carriage each?

Looks like new buys!!!!

Also need at least one more vac braked rake, may just use all odd unraked mark 1s.

Depends how many sidings I can get on a 600mm wide board.

Looking good Martin!

I've just put Hunt couplings on all mine. Brings them closer together but not as close as I'd like. I'm still on the lookout for two or three more Second Opens.

What if we ask Mr. Kohler very nicely.....?

I started using BSOs the 2F is two halves.

Saves filling and drilling for the toilet

Oh yes all that filing...

I did pick up some Hornby 2Es for £11 each though. They'll need new bogies and metal wheels but they're pretty nice.

Problem is matching sets. I currently have 3 sets under way, with a 4th undecided.

How well do Hornby 2Es match other stock? Could just about get away with 1 set with odd F conversion.

Set 1, 6 x 2D, 2 x 1

Set 2, 1 x 2C, 2 x 2D, 3 x 2E, 2 x 2F

Set 3, 1 x 2A, 2 x 2D, 4 x 2E, 3 x 2F, 2 x 1

Set 3 has 1 Hornby, 1 Lima, 1 Mainline, rest is Airfix, luckily Hornby 2 and Airfix 2D are similar enough in profile.

Will need to rewheel the GUV.

So far from Airfix and completed, or in final detailing.

2C BSO - 1

2D TSO - 6

2D TSOT - 1

2D FK - 1

2D BFK - 2

2E TSO - 4 (2 to do)

2E FO - 1

2F TSO - 2 (1 to do)

2F  FO - 2

Been getting on with updating some of the pile of Mk2s. Resprayed, lined, fitted with adapted Replica B4s and awaiting Laserglaze to be fitted. Just got underfames to update with the correct fans if anyone knows where I can get them these days?

Is that a Scot rail Liveried 24/25?

😂 yeah it is, it’s a Bachmann class 25/3, one of two that I gave fictional liveries. The other is in Railfreight Grey with large logos and red sole bars, like a 26…

That sits really well on that.

I've got all the mk2Ds for my rake now and they're awaiting attention, ie new wheels etc. I actually bought one TSO more than I needed (A Mainline one) so maybe I'll have a play around with it. Looks like I have a lot of metal wheels to buy in the new year...
