RMweb Premium Mallard60022 Posted April 25, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 25, 2014 Can anyone tell me what livery the G6 0.6.0T had? The only pics I've got are B & W. I can get some details from the pics and I have the details of the loco in my ABC. Any other info would be very useful. Many thanks. EddieB
This looks to be the locomotive - probably after final withdrawal. Renumbered into department stock after withdrawal from revenue service as 30238, it still carries the early emblem and what appears to be unlined black livery. http://transportsofdelight.smugmug.com/RAILWAYS/BRITISH-STEAM-LOCOMOTIVES/LOCOMOTIVES-OF-BRITISH-2/17729942_thddSF/1409384003_mn8hD5k#!i=1409384003&k=mn8hD5k&lb=1&s=A /Edit/ Another photo - available to opurchase from RCTS: http://www.rcts.info/features/archive/image.htm?img=CH01718&jpg=CH/CH01718.jpg&srch=&page=135 And more, which suggest faded lining http://railphotoprints.zenfolio.com/p670284858/hB5EF978#hb5ef978 http://railphotoprints.zenfolio.com/p670284858/h1EE59D6C#h1ee59d6c even one in colour... http://railphotoprints.zenfolio.com/p670284858/h5FA2CC0#h5fa2cc0 Another from Eastleigh, 1963) http://www.semgonline.com/steam/g6class_01.html
RMweb Premium Mallard60022 Posted April 25, 2014 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted April 25, 2014 Oh those are fabulous Eddie. Thanks matey. The colour one and one other are bought now. I really appreciate you doing this search; something I inevitably fail to remember to do. I have a picture of the predecessor G6 and that has a different livery with large letters on the tank sides "Engineers Department Meldon Quarry". This loco is a simpler paint/livery job thanks goodness. The old kit I have has the original 'stovepipe/coned' style Chimney, so I shall be contacting Dave at SEF to see if they do the 'replacement' type in the newer kit. If not I think an M7 chimney will do nicely. There will be some nice little bits of 'detailing' for me to do as well; hand rials and grabrails, lamp irons, bits of pipework and the extended cab step (for shunters no doubt).
