iarnrod
Looking to build up stock for a future project, and was wondering what is available in either RTR or kit form in Network Rail or other private rail maintenance companies e.g. Colas, Balfour Beatty stock such as coaches, tampers etc. Interested in OO scale items. I know of the following, but maybe we could start a list which might be of use to other modellers : PH Designs Harsco Rail Grinder kit - due end of 2014 Clockwork Ideas 08-16 Tamper kit - unsure if still available Flangeway Snow Ploughs

A lot of the current Network Rail Mk2 fleet is converted from air-con Mk2's as well as a few Mk1's, such as generator vans. Quite fulfilling from a modelling point of view to convert yourself. I've got one or two of them on my yellow workbench thread - link in sig below.......... Cheers, Mick
tamperman36
Bachmann do the MPV unit and a BG in engineers green, they are also planning to make several versions of Wickam trollies. Model Rail magazine have several items of rolling stock available in limited quantities. On a slight deviation from topic Oxford models do a transit in Network rail and you can find some Stobart Rail low loaders, also due out are a Stobart Rail transit and beaver tail rigid loader which can be used in the support roll if modelling a depot or track maintenance scene On the idea of converting coaching stock try Hurst models coach overlays (brass coach side overlays) also Southern Pride have also recently started making kits for the OHLM train coaches and cable drum wagons. The beaver tail rigid loader is now available from the Stobart shop, it is listed under '8 wheel crane lorry'. The only caveat about buying from the Stobart shop is that you can save on postage by buying more than a single model, £3.99 for up to 3 models. tamperman36
heres a couple more for the list D.C Kits make a kit for a Plasser 12 ton self propelled crane ( there are some issues with this kit ) however there is another version available from Make your mark models :http://makeyourmarkmodels.com it all depends on how detailed you would like your model and what your budget is D.C Kits are cheaper D.C kits also make kits for other items of rolling stock and you can often find some useful detailing parts on the stall at exhibitions
