1200 Falcon - Newport Docks

Falcon sneaks into view in these shots of (D)6989 on a weedkiller near Newport, Pill. 

.

The photographer states they were taken in 1975, but the 37 would have been renumbered into TOPS by then.

Too late Gunny - my kid brother is in the process of converting a setBrian R

Comes as no surprise. I remember it coming through Cardiff Central on a few occasions but cannot remember what was hauling it. Nice write up in Model Rail this month for Ranelagh, by the way.

I'd say the 2/74 date is more likely Phil, as per a large swaith of WR locos being renumbered that month, and on into March and April. 1/1/73 is way too early, the LMR started with a few AC electrics in '72 but the WR didn't make a start on applying Tops numbers until the late Autumn of '73.
