Hello All,

More event news! Bookings are now being taken for the National Festival of Railway Modelling, once again being held at the East of England Showground in Peterborough on 18th/19th October.

This popular show, the largest in the East of England, has established a reputation for delivering high-quality layouts in a good venue with plenty of space to move around and lots of free parking. This year will be no different and we're particularly pleased with this year's guest list of 30+ layouts, details of which are now confirmed. See www.model-railways-live.co.uk/Exhibitions/3-7/The_National_Festival_of_Railway_Modelling/Layouts/ for more information and photos.

Layouts will cover British, European and North American subjects, but I'm particularly looking forward to seeing Southampton MRC's 'Ackworth' again, Graham Muspratt's 'Fisherton Sarum' and the ever-popular 'Loch Oran'.

As you might expect, there will also be strong support from the model railway trade, including Bachmann Europe, Replica Railways, Langley Models and All Components, plus many others.

The BRM Village is also back again, offering you a mixture of project layouts and practical demonstrations from the mag. This will be one of the first public outings for our current project layout 'Stokesay', in conjunction with Telford Railway Modellers Group.

*Stokesay – see the new, work-in-progress BRM N Gauge Project Layout

*Modelling tips, demonstrations and presentations in The RMweb Theatre (timetable to be announced)

*Meet the team behind the magazine. Ben Jones, Andy York and Howard Smith will all be in attendance to answer your questions.

*Subscribe to BRM and take home a great free gift. Plus buy books and DVDs at great prices

More attractions will be announced over the coming weeks; you can keep up to date with what's planned and book your tickets now at https://www.model-railways-live.co.uk/Exhibitions/12-7/The_National_Festival_of_Railway_Modelling/Ticket_Booking/

See you there!

Ben

Our focus now turns to the run-up to Peterborough show with a reminder that pre-booking closes on 10th October at 09.00 to get the reduced priced entry - see https://www.model-railways-live.co.uk/Exhibitions/12-7/The_National_Festival_of_Railway_Modelling/Ticket_Booking/

I think there's a really good line-up of layouts which includes Fisherton Sarum from Muz:

Nick Skelton's superb Rumbling Bridge

Great 2mm work from Jim Allwood with Welton Down.

Looking forward to seeing Ogden Fold again. :)

I shall look forward to catching Welton Down.  It was in MRJ a while back.  I know its perpetrator, Jim Allwood, from other things.  He is, I think, still Chairman of the 2mm Scale Association wherein lurks much skill and cleverness.

I must admit it was a last moment decision to book my ticket tonight. But after a hour and a half of trying I am now giving up. Being both an RM Web member and a BRM subscriber, receiving numerous emails to tell me how easy it would be!  All I get to is an error page when it comes to payment, when I get through the myriad of password/username/registration pages.

I enjoyed this exhibition last year as part of an exhibitor team, and want to return as a paying member of the public. So I will probably attend anyway and pay at the door. It is just a little infuriating after exhibiting at RMWebLive with it's diminished attendance to find how difficult it is to purchase tickets online.

Rant over.   ;)

Hi Jeff,

Apologies for this. I'll look into what's been going on!

If you'd still like to pre-book, please call Kathy McKenna on 01778 391123 and we'll gladly honour the pre-booking deal.

Thanks Steve, I will call on Monday during office hours.

I have to add that within 5 minutes I have booked into the hotel, so I have two days on the casual side of the barriers to socialise and view the theatre. (a first for me after three previous Warner exhibitions). I look forward to meeting you, Andy and the team.

PS You might want to delete her number before the poor girl is inundated with late requests

Hmm. I thought this applies....

"Pre-booking closes at 9am Friday 5th September 2014 ..." according to "https://www.model-railways-live.co.uk/Exhibitions/3-7/The_National_Festival_of_Railway_Modelling/Layouts/"

... or perhaps it doesn't  depending on one's status it seems ???

If you read the paragraph above your quote, the 5th September date seems to apply to RMweb Live, not the Peterborough show.

Thanks 2mm Andy.  Apologies to all I have possibly offended with my hasty post - I really must get my eyes tested.

Regards,

Brian

Ok, for my DCC demo I have three different 'controllers' and a selection of different locos to show how to chip them.

I have just done one of my childhood Triang Princesses complete with StayAlive and also plan to bring along a class 91 to show how I tackle a ringfield with the screw from brush holder to chassis. I'll also be bringing my decoder tester and new triple gauge test track - it can handle N, OO and O gauge.

Any other requests?

Hope to see loads of you on Saturday and Sunday :)

Is there a program for the theatre available yet as I cannot find one and want to plan my two days to get full advantage, possibly also suggesting that RM Web users could meet at the bar for the (hopefully) lunch time interlude.

You can always meet in front of Fisherton Sarum stand 126 not too far away from the theatre. I can't offer a pint but possibly wine gums...

Even if that does not entice you for the meet please come and say hello at the layout anyway!

I suppose it's too much to expect that the bar sells real ale?

Sit down Chris and prepare for a shock. According to the floor plan preview in my electronically received "personal invitation" (presumably sent to all who are signed up to Model Railways Live?) IT IS A REAL ALE BAR. I won't be too surprised if the prices make me fall about laughing without having to have a drink to get merry. Captive audience bar prices are always stupidly inflated, and Cambridgeshire seems to have London prices disease anyway.

Something else about the show preview in that "invitation". Picture of totally the wrong layout shown with the Waterloo Road layout description. I'm dead certain of that, since that's the layout to which I've been recruited as assistant operator and general donkey.

There's a program here, although how up to date it is I'm not sure - it hints at more being added.

Pleased about the real ale bar, and the fact I decided to go by train ;)
