PenrithBeacon
It was a very extravagant retail experience for me too! I can't help but wonder about attendance figures though. It was good but not as good as RAILex. I was earwigging a conversation at one point where it was posited that Stoke Mandeville is very much larger than Leatherhead so the attendance is about the same. Any opinions? Horsetan
It was a very extravagant retail experience for me too!I can't help but wonder about attendance figures though. It was good but not as good as RAILex. I was earwigging a conversation at one point where it was posited that Stoke Mandeville is very much larger than Leatherhead so the attendance is about the same. Any opinions?... It didn't seem crowded to me. That may be partly because a few traders were unavoidably absent, so more space resulted. Some highly interesting conversations were had, and a couple of new tricks learnt as well. The real disappointment for me was the fuel consumption. Hoping to attain as close as possible to 80mpg, it came out as 73.6mpg going out, and 69.1mpg coming back. The diesel probably needs a service.... DougN
Don't worry, some of us did! I only have an iPad but I could suck them from the card...I don't think that the b&b would be too happy with the upload!
Coombe Barton
I'm amazed at how many hundreds of quids worth of bits will fit into a Scaleforum carrier bag.
DougN
Yeah, I didn't even get a bag, let's just say the back pack ended up quite full. Things that are not on the Internet or easily posted to the other side of the earth cheaply got priority! I have a number of years worth of reading and building to get on with. I will say this I was impressed with the layouts and I did find the smaller more interesting than the larger. I just wish I could take Knutsford home with me. The Idea of it being packed well enought to survive the trip would concern me! Well done to all involved in organising it!

RMweb Premium Lambton58 Posted September 27, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 27, 2014 Had a slightly unexpected visit here today.and a very enjoyable afternoon was had. It certainly was quieter than Railex, but I think given the nature of the event that's to be expected. It was certainly nice not to have to fight through crowds. Another thing I enjoyed about the show was the number of Big 4 and pre grouping layouts. It made a nice change from usual BR Steam/Blue Era/Post Privatisation offerings - and I say that as someone who models 1955-65! There was an interesting range of demos and traders. So all in all, a good event. Here are few photos. Not every layout as I tend to shoot the ones that grab me in some way. I loved the simplicity of Wheal Elizabeth and Llanastr, the sweeping curve on Sandford & Banwell and the urban feel of Midland Siding. However the best two layouts for me were Knutsford East and Lowburn Park - both ran well, were operated well and had a real feel of place, time and real railway atmosphere. charliepetty
Just back, via M1 Closures & diversions! Cracking show again, brilliant range of trade, layouts & especially demonstrations/demonstrators & society stands (Warners Exhibitions should note this!!!). I am amazed how ALL Aylesbury shows are always fantastic. Well done to all. Charlie
Jon020
Looks to have been a good show... sorry I missed it. Still ended up spending some money, but at a camera shop instead; I suspect S4um would have been cheaper
