New Year Freemo meet

Recommended Posts

Fingers crossed I can attend, but I will know more nearer the time, I tend to know fairly late what my wife has planned. It being close to new year it could mean a day of family visits etc.

At this point I also do not know if I'll be able to bring a module, but in any case hope to be available to help operating/dispatching/tea making. I guess leftover mince pies and mulled wine are welcome? :-)

Premier Inn booked for the Friday night! :danced:

If that's the one at Exeter St Davids there isn't on site parking. You have to park opposite in front of the station. However very handy for the Great Western for good beer or one of best Wetherspoons, The Imperial up the hill a little bit.

E-mail received OK, Martyn.

The Midlands group is slowly taking shape. We hope to have a first bash in March.

It's possible there might be some new modules at least partially completed that might come to Exeter. (you will notice the use of the word "might" - no guarantees as to what might be ready by then...!)

Well another fun modular meet, many thanks to Martyn, Peter, Neil, Mel, the ladies in the kitchen and anyone else who helped organised it.

Pictures later when the internet connection is better than in the train.

First off a view of the layout, again a variety of modules and scenic finishes but it all worked well as a whole.

A few electrical glitches occured with the wiring and dcc network but as there were plenty of us it all just allowed more good natured chat and a little ribbing ;)

Geoff and I worked two trains during the day with a break for lunch.

Here's the second job.

Starting at Dale Yard we assembled our train keeping out the way as other trains arrived in the yard. Nick's crew waiting for a yard track.

And the trip reaches it's furthest point at Lloyd where the main switching takes place before working another train back to Dale along the same route.

It may seem strange but each train took around an hour an a half to traverse the layout from origin to destination and return to the origin with steady work at each place.
