Jack374
Hi, A while ago I bought a pair of Bachmann container flats second hand at a fairly reasonable price. On returning home and opening the box, I immediately studied the containers; the main reason for my purchase. When I came round to the wagons, I was sourly disappointed, because they were only weathered on the deck (a home made effort) and were covered all over in oil! My theory is that the owner sprayed them with oil instead of varnish, but I'll never know! Any ideas on how to remove it? I'm competent with an airbrush, so I could completely strip and repaint, but I'd rather not! Thanks in advance, Jack.

Jack374
Thanks Ronnie and C6T, I'll give them a go tomorrow. Just done surgery on one of them because of a broken chassis, not looking like a good deal after all! Jack.
KalKat
I'm not sure WD40 is necessarily a good idea....,. 1) It's a water repellent making further cleaning 'problematic' 2) It can have some interesting effects on plastic ....... I would stick to detrergent
Xerces Fobe2
A small amount of lighter fuel but be careful as this stuff is very flammable XF
