sleeper
Hi, I'm contemplating scratchbuilding a Park Royal Railbus and it seems dimensional information about the prototype is scant to say the least. An entry in one forum I looked at stated the length as 42.0ft long x9ft 3ins wide. I can believe the length but wonder if the width is a typo error 8' 3" seems more feasable. Has anyone the correct dimensions (the more the better) for one of these. Even the dimensions of the Airfix/Dapol model would help. Thanks
ThePipersSon
Taken from the book 'BR First Generation Diesel Railbuses' (ISBN 9780711036352) - the body length is 42' (43'4" with buffers) - width 9'3" over stepboards.
hayfield
There is also some information in A Pictorial Record of British Railways Diesel Multiple units plan and short write up Could you not use the Airfix model as a basis of building a scale model? 66C
The Railcar site at Railcar.co.uk has copies of the diagrams for the BR dmu types. A good drawing for the Park Royal railbus can be found here: http://www.railcar.co.uk/print/diagrams/613.jpg Regards.
sleeper
Thanks very much guys, just the job! The diagram will be a big help too. John I will probably be using a Dapol kit for the detailing bits it contains. Regards Roly
