Merfyn Jones
The same cab as the Fordson was used by Dodge and Leyland. It might be possible to use the cab from the Base Toys versions of these makes ('Parrot nosed' Dodge and Leyland Comet.) Phil Had a look at that idea, it would be more work grafting the Fordson bonnet to the Base cab, and the windscreens were different anyway. I went for the less work option. Merfyn Jones
Hi Merfyn, Nice work on the Ford, The UR reg is that an Hertfordshire vehicle? Perhaps based at Luton Beds I do not recall seeing it around. Regards, Gordon Wil Gordon All LMS and LMR (to1970) were Hertfordshire registered. In fact the model is based on a photo of one at Sutton Coldfield.

ringo
Kev. very minor differences , but the mains ones, are the air intake on the wing side, the rear door window appature is a different shape, and the bumpers are different on the front. If you are a perfectionist then they matter, I am not so it doesnt bother me. Cheers R

andye
Here is anoth pic of what was left of Marylebone Diesel Depot, circa 1991 ish during demolition. The view is of them old milk dock platform, but there is a Roadrunner crew bus in the back ground which caught my eye! Merf, I`ll see what I can do re the pictures, only just got a scanner and still working it all out. Andy
andye
With reference to the various yellow vans and crew buses in this thread, does any one know what the actual colours of the bodies are? EG the escort combi vans were a ford colour and were yellow from the factory, the yellow being more "milky". Our ex marylebone sherpa was also yellow from new. The bigger carriers such as the leyland roadrunners were coach built from chassis cabs, the cabs were often white and then painted yellow when the body was finished, question is what yellow? I used to think rail warning yellow, but thats a more orangy and creamy colour, so does anyone know if it ws BT yellow for example? Or were they any yellow the coachbuilders had? Merfyn Jones
Andy My opinion is that B R had their own shade of yellow, but I think it changed at some stage to a brighter than the original (but when) Yes Ford did supply their own shade, I recall the V (1979) reg Escort Mk.II s being lighter followed by the Mk.IIIs. The Sherpas were mainly yellow and I would guess that due to the number ordered, they supplied to customer spec. as they did for BT and the Post Office. The coachbuilt stuff would be painted to the customers spec. on top of the original cab colour. I have for years used Humbrol gloss 69 rather than warning panel yellow as it covers better, however I was not quite convinced of the shade and more recent models have had a touch of white to tone the yellow down a bit. Cheers Jim Yes a little bit Jim. I have been up to my neck recently (not modeling) . It does look better, so will post a piccy of progress so far shortly. I did think of doing it white as the BTP one, but decided on yellow as a D reg. that we had locally. Merf. And the first Mark 2 Tranny nearly finished. Merfyn Jones
Should have read the comments! just come across it looking for Leyland pics What I should have added was the cab was used on a number of the Leyland range. Called the G cab, originaly a BMC design. The Terrier (as on my avatar) a 7.5ton lorry. Boxer, larger 4 wheel. Reiver 6 wheeler. Clydesdale, the artics. And used on some of the big bonneted Scammells. Merf.

jcb 3c
Yes spotted that one on the dockside from a ship and the next one to follow it was a shiny Ford D series ! Turkey full of fascinating trucks with at least five Turkish manufacturers making their own models and of course Turkish BMC now exports trucks and buses to UK ! Adam
Going, briefly, back on topic, a couple of new Flickr finds (I know some pictures by this photographer were on Fotopic, but I don't recognise these). First, trailers and a parcels van (Thames perhaps?) in yellow at Aylesbury: http://www.flickr.com/photos/52467480@N08/6920429891/in/set-72157629428443335/lightbox/ And second, this rather natty yellow Austin Loadstar at Crewe (I can't quite make out the registration unfortunately): http://www.flickr.com/photos/52467480@N08/6920441509/in/set-72157629428443335/lightbox/ Adam

The parcels van at Aylesbury looks like a Morris/Austin FG of about 1964/5, I think I see an angled cab door. At Crewe works the Loadstar looks to be a flatbed with maybe a registration of LAR313, dating from 1950. Merf.

These Dodge K types were very rare, and I believe were supplied to railway workshops. I have a shot of an artic version (JAR100C) in use with freightliner c1965. Merf. Merfyn Jones
Thanks to Jim S-W's encouragment with his Mark 2 Transits. I eventualy got some bonnets from ABS. This is the John Day lwb Transit minibus which comes as a diesel Mark 1. ABS bonnet grafted on to make the Mk2. During the painting it was altered to look a bit like the later version (c1983) Not the worlds best kit but somthing that fits the bill for carying our 4mm civil engineering team to work sites. Parked at Blaenau Ffestiniog station while work is carried out to the footbridge. Merf.
andye
merf the transit is excellent, reminds me of the old oak common staff buses, but in my dat they were freight rover 400s mostly. I found this pic on the superb traveller homes website, it was on the news about the underground response teams having blue lights to get to incidents, look at the link, someone has already though of this! http://www.travellerhomes.co.uk/?p=4086 Andy
