Sorry I can't give you a name, I found it on a German Railway Site (HO loads) about 10 years ago but can't find it now. Once my layout is complete, beet will feature a lot, so I need to get some of this stuff too.... kirley Posted January 13, 2023 Author Share Posted January 13, 2023 SL&NCR Tri-Composite Coach No.9 I came across pictures of this short bogie coach in Neil Sprinks ‘Sligo, Leitrim & Northern Counties Railway book and the nearest kit I found was a Ratio LMS Express Clerestory Brake 3rd. This SL&NC coach was 44' 6" in length so it was a case of cut and shut adding extra doors and duckets. Sides and ends glued. I don’t like the make-up bogies in the Ratio kit so I replaced them with some LMS ones adapting the kit chassis to take them. Had to add to the roof. Interior partitions and seating added. Using my artistic licence I decided to re-paint the coach as she would have looked at the end of her working life, a faded maroon colour. De Decals added (excellent next day service from Foxes) Ready for a test run. Relying on a GNRI loco to provide the power. 10 2 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

kirley Posted February 5, 2023 Author Share Posted February 5, 2023 SL&NCR Tri-Composite Coach No.10 Gareth Brennan suggested my No.9 coach build needed a ‘sister’ so here goes with No.10 using Neil Spinks photograph to work from. Again, used a Ratio MR kit, this time an all-1st coach. It was easer build second time around except for the large double windows. Used a paper template to get the doors in the correct position and then ‘cut and shut’ the plastic sides. Made partitions, converting to roof into a clerestory one and added running boards to the bogies. Primer applied body and ready to paint. Painted as with faded body work, just waiting for buffers to finish off. Buffers added and body given a distressed finish. kirley Posted March 3, 2023 Author Share Posted March 3, 2023 Sligo 0-6-4T Locomotive Lough Erne Ever since I saw #27 in RPSI Whitehead I wanted to do a model of it but because of its unusual wheel configuration I could not convert an RTR locomotive and there was no 00 scale brass kit available. I eventually talked Tony Ragg into doing an etch for me. The ability for doing a ‘CAD’ drawing and converting it into etched parts was way beyond my skills and I appreciated him taking me through the process including the making of a card model before doing the etch. The chassis parts were very well designed and easy to put together with tabs/slots included to ensure everything lined up properly. kirley Posted May 14, 2023 Author Share Posted May 14, 2023 KIRLEY JUNCTION - MGWR 6-wheel coaches A number of years back I bought and build some MGW 6-wheel coaches using Alphagraphix card kits and scratch build chassis. While they were okay, I was never completely happy with them mainly down to my poor build. I got Owen O’Neill from Cork to print some 4-wheel flat wagons and I was so pleased with them I approached him to re-create the MGWR coaches and he was prepared to take on the challenge. There were quite a few prototypes before he mastered a technique of doing them. They arrived as separate sides and roofs but also had complete internal walls and seating. I used the existing chassis I had built for the card models so that cut down the work involved. Used British Racing Green gloss and Railtec decals. kirley Posted May 21, 2023 Author Share Posted May 21, 2023 KIRLEY JUNCTION – GNRI 6 & 4 Plank Wagons Provincial Wagons latest offering, GNRI Open Wagons, 6 plank and 4 plank height. When I first saw photographs of this model, I thought the lettering was wrong as I couldn’t see the Railway Company having to stencil over the bracing but Leslie showed me a photograph confirming it. These are 3D printed bodies and are very easy to put together. I used a different coupling mount 3D printed by Stephen McCotter of the Ulster Model Railway Club.
