Provincial Wagons latest offering, GNRI Open Wagons, 6 plank and 4 plank height.

Those look a little tricky for 21 mm gauge, for those so minded? The axleguards / springs seem to be on a sub-frame that sits inside the solebars, so that whilst being a comfortable fit for standard 26 mm pin-point axles, from a three-quarter view they are obviously set too far back.

Nevertheless, nice-looking models superbly finished by your good self.

What's the standard buffer centres for Irish gauge?

Just for your information, Stephen (and others) if you are modelling in 21mm gauge, I'll supply as much of any of my kits as you require, suitably discounted!

These kits (a short run only) use a variation of an existing chassis (this one is 9ft6in wheelbase), but you can use your own chassis on some of my kits if you wish.

Thanks. I suppose there are conventional compromises generally adopted in Irish 4 mm scale modelling on 16.5 mm gauge; I can see just how your bodies can be used with bespoke chassis. I'm not, in fact, a modeller of Irish prototypes but I have very much admired the Irish P4 layouts I have seen - just as I admire @kirley's 00 modelling.

Yes, @kirley is not just one of my best customers, but, as you say a very impressive modeller. His freight rolling stock collection has more wagons in it than the whole of the present IR freight fleet!

Thanks, Kieran, for the tip re decal softener to get over the ironwork - of course Dundalk just had a guy with a stencil who sloshed it on, then tidied up any missing bits!

Sligo 0-6-4T Locomotive Lough Erne [Part 3]

The last posting on this project was back in March, so the latest update is the milling of a brass tube down to size for the boiler and the smoke box surround.

The bogies supplied were the wrong size but I used one as a mounting post for the motor, hope it works.

I was able to finish the Intermediate Car but the rest will have to wait until I get the new bogies.

Provincial Wagons - Ex GNRI Bagged Cenent Vans

Was at the South Dublin Model Railway Show on Saturday and picked up Leslie McAllister's latest models.

IMG_4715x.jpg.b8b3c508fd6b60aa5a366ad5c89aa5bb.jpgThey needed some cosmetic work on them so I removed the chassis and re-sprayed them grey.

Picked up some spare bogies from the IRM Stand, you never know when they will come in useful.

Then a bit of weathering to finish them off.

Fantastic build! Love the worn look too, these things were never pristine, and often so weathered that for all anyone knew, they could have been originally painted silver, pink and gold the last time they saw a paintbrush (in 1567)…..

Hint, though; being a MGWR design, 19M rather than 19 (19 would have been ex-GSWR and they were different).

Beautiful model! Wish I had that skill……

Thanks JHB, I ran out of 'M's after doing a rake of coaches, must remember to add it.  Did the SLNC have the same Horse Box?
