Coombe Barton
Looking at the before and after rebuild pix of 4566 (yes, I know it was rebuilt up to 2006) the cab front seems different. After rebuild it appears to have acquired spectacle glass. Does anyone know what happened? Reason for the question is that I'm building a Churchward kit and am at the stage of choosing the cab front. Is the 1991 look similar to the 1947 look? RMweb Gold gwrrob Posted February 1, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 1, 2015 The spectacle glass is correct for the Great Western livery but these were removed long before 1947 and were plated over.Maybe the SVR wanted both options John. Coombe Barton
Thanks, Robin I'm looking through the small prairie book you recommended to me and there doesn't seem to be a class-wide consistency. Were any built without spectacle glass before 4575?
RMweb Gold gwrrob Posted February 1, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 1, 2015 There's no mention in RCTS part 9 either although it does give dates of superheat and outside steampipes.
