This was some of what was on show today.

Starting with the main reason for my visit . . .

Having got used to the aural onslaught of Austerities blasting up Foxfield Bank I was quite surprised at how quiet they can be when on "Light Duties".  It was comprehensively upstaged by Metropolitan Number 1 in the noise department.

This 2-12-2 tank is so massively over-gauge I doubt if it will ever see use on the line.

Looking quite elegant, in a subtle, restrained sort of way

These fascinate me.  Has anyone ever managed to built a working model of one?

And now something for the "Prototype for Everything" department; particularly that dreadful moment when you drop your prize loco on the floor and wonder how the hell you are going to repair it.  The Hawthorn Leslie in the museum.

And finally . . .

I've never noticed this before but that doesn't mean it's a recent arrival.  That doesn't stop me wondering how on Earth it got here!

A Subway Train!!! Cool! Is the old London Transport underground train still there? The group who owned it were buggered by having no covered site.

I always enjoyed a day out at Quainton when I lived in Gloucestershire. It was useful for modelling shots as well.

The NY Subway car has been in the UK for years. IIRC it was imported to be used/was used as an 'American Diner'. It found its way to Quainton and was accessible to the public at one time. It was imported minus its trucks (bogies) and other underframe equipment, some of which is identical to some of London's Q stock.

For 2016 they are advertising NER 1310 H class 0-4-0T as the star visiting loco from Middleton Railway in Leeds.

I wondered where it was going when I saw it on the back of a wagon, southbound near junction 30 of the M1 this afternoon.
