Bachmann 7F, LNER vans and steel opens

Bachmann had the decorated pre-production 7F, steel-sided opens and LNER vans on show at Manchester.

An opportunity was taken to get some snaps in situ.

Not sure how that 7F got so far east though?

Common goods stock, just the thing. I can feel quite a lot of filing coming on though to convert the axleboxes to the flat fronted form standard for vehicles of this build date. Probably a good opportunity here for an after-market parts specialist to offer an etched sheet of flat fronted covers for happy bashers like me to glue on.

Photograph of the prototype of one of the opens here. http://gallery6801.fotopic.net/p30848165.html You are correct about the axlebox type, and quite a lot of chalking needed!

There is (or was last year) one on the North Yorkshire Moors Rly! Looks ridiculous, but ideal for that difficult hilly line.

Very nice indeed! Models, layout, and photography.

I am a bit surprised by the lack of detail in those opens. You'd think there would be a seam on the inside for the door. Of course, with the Bachmann trencher potentially on the loose, maybe it is better to leave it to us...

It's a bit ungenerous not to have mentioned how well the modelling on the layout, and the photography 'sells' the perception of these models. This must be a station right next door to a major wagon works.since they are all in pristine condition. I must get on with battering all of my Parkside histeels so I have a mix of rusty old clunkers to go with these shiny unbent newer ones - the old 3H van kit for the LNER standard van came with bodywork in 'midlife' condition, (something I thought a very good idea) so at least that is taken care of.

Nothing absolute yet as it depends on shipping etc but I believe it will be around Christmas.

I wonder if 'Christmas' is a Bachmannism for 'Warley'?

PS Thank goodness, in the light of all else currently hitting the shelves, that there seems to be only one recorded instance of one of these 7F thingies paying a visit to the holy of holies.

The 7F does look nice. I'd really like one, but I think that this time I'm going to have to check my records to see whether they really did ever run over the Somerset & Dorset... :O  (I'm sure there was a rumour of one of them double-heading with one of Bath shed's Class 17s on one occasion.... :P :P  )

The proportions of the 7F are wonderful a lovely looking loco. With all these wonderful 2-8-0s coming on the market its a change from the big express locos, all we really need is a cross between a fast heavy freight loco and a passenger loco, I know the 7F fits the bill , oh and so does a 47XX!!

Ck this is one type that you simply cannot try and blag on to your S&D stock, you may be able to slip an HJ teddy bear in un-noticed, but this would be a step too far, it's photographed on an eastern region branch layout for a reason. Even Ivan Peters didn't snap one when he was snapping the route from the luxury of his Rolls Royce ... :bomb_mini:

Ivo did NOT have a Rolls Royce ..... it was a Bentley (he was, after all, a man of good taste and discernment) :)

Ah but he said Ivan, not Ivo and we are talking about the Stockton and Darlington anyway...

Blimey those vans are tasty.

I think a lot of chassis are going on Ebay soon

Now about that underframe..............................?

Already available from Bachmann, V2 and K3. But the V2 does need an update as the weakest model in Bach's steam range...
